I thought the Super Six, despite its problems was great for boxing as we got some excellent match ups. What weight division would work best for the next installment of the Super Six tourney and what fighters would you like to see in it.:good
160 for me. There needs to be a sorting of the men from the boys, and the boys from the bus drivers. Golovkin and Pirog are just fighting bums, there needs to be a bit of clarity established domestically too. I bet it's the division with most claimants to a ''world'' title. I'd make this a [thinks of suitable N word] Nine, three groups of three, two fights each then the winner of each group plus the best runner up go into the semis. Martinez Chavez Golovkin Pirog Sturm Geale Macklin Barker Rubio ideally of course.
LHW would be good with 1) Hopkins 2) Dawson 3) Pascal 4) Cloud 5) Cleverly 6) Shumenov OR LWW 1) Bradley 2) Peterson 3) Khan 4) Rios 5) Maidana 6) Alexander
Yeah 160 looks like the best division for then next Super Six, loads of good fighters to pick from. How about a heavyweight Super Six: Povetkin, Adamek, Haye, Gerber, Boytsov, Seth Mitchell Arguably the heavyweight division is in most need of a SS format to break the dominance of the Klitscho bros
assuming we are trying to keep it realistic, there would be no "elite" fighters in the tournament as they basically dont need to take the risk. Theres no way Khan or Bradley would take part in a LWW tourney, and theres no way Bhop would take part in a LHW tourney. MW is a good shout although i wouldnt expect martinez or chavez jnr to play any part; Sturm Pirog Golovkin Geale Macklin or Barker Peter Quillin (for the yank interest)
Agree with 160. I'd have; Golovkin Martinez Chavez Jr Pirog Sturm Geale Could probably shift a few round. I'd prefer NJikam to Geale myself, probably not all that marketable though. Then again, Geale would **** up the schedules when he's at home, and ain't all that anyway. Also, let's assume that it's Showtime going with their proven format. Sergio and JCC Jr are probably out on that basis.
Although the Super Six was a terrific idea, and a very welcomed bit of innovation in this stagnant, declining and extremely unimaginitve Boxing World of today, I think that the format was flawed. I'm a huge fan and advocate of the tournament format in Boxing but believe that it would be far more efficient and concise in future using either 4/8 fighters in a straight knock-out bracket, the round robin format caused far too many problems. Personally 122 looks potentially very hot, if they can pursuade Toshiaki Nishioka and Teiken Promotions to take part that would be my pick.
forgot about him...if you wanted to maintain a geographical spread he could be in there instead of macklin / barker
Does it have to be realistic? Because when I'm not on this bloody iPod I'm going to construct a sensational flyweight one(WITHOUT Pong[and possibly Segura through spite ]).
