Hanshaw tried to mug Dirrell at the opening bell. Dirrell responded to the pressure by falling down twice. That's not a good sign:nono

Not taking your opposition seriously is no excuse for showing consistently bad technique. A guy like Whitaker could get away with fundamental flaws in his footwork (a lot of the time he did seem to just show carelessness in there because of the reason you mentioned) because his other tools made up for it, but Dirrell simply doesn't have the skills necessary to make up for it once he gets in there against a world class pressure fighter or puncher. Pretty needless to say he's not in the same stratosphere as Pea. I don't think the world of Abraham, but he would break Dirrell down.

True, I find it very clumsy at times. But given that the ratings here as so vague, it's hard to gauge what rating he deserves. I'd give him a lower mark for being relatively clumsy and getting cornered at times, but he does move around a lot & so in terms of 'volume of lateral movement' if you like and constant use of it, I've marked him up.

That's just one example. Plenty of guys have carried punching power. Abraham is a stocky guy who was struggling to make 160 in the end. I see no reason why he won't carry his power up, what you may find is guys like Froch & Kessler being able to take the shots better than a lot of the MW's he faced though.

Just watched some of the Dirrel Hanshaw fight and I gotta say that Dirrel is showing some serious lack of ring intelligence early on in that fight.
