Didn't setanta start up like this? They had a ppv or two before emerging into a proper network.

So far theres no indication that this channel is anything other than just a platform for Hennessey to put Carl Froch fights on PPV. I don't think we'll be seeing much (any?) other boxing on it TBH.

Yeah, this does remind me a lot of how Setanta started up (at least over here, they had been running in Ireland for yonks).

At first they predominantly showed the Irish sports live on PPV for the expats living over here, before moving on to SPL games after the almighty SPL/Sky **** up in 2002 and a year on the BBC and the occasional WWE and Boxing PPV.

Before they became a proper channel, which was around the time they picked up more regular Boxing and Premier League Football they went around as a PPV channel. I do recall boxing being on there, but not which fights sorry. Definitely happend though.

A Toney fight rings a bell (pun not intended).

What a ****ing joke. These ****ing idiots can go and **** themselves if they think I am paying for this crap. And people wonder why the sport can become marginalized.

this is sad sad news....i think when showtime came up with this concept[the round robin tournament] they were trying to revive the flagging fortunes of boxing worldwide...and put on big fights the whole world would take an interest in..but instead of this being available to the masses, britain/ireland has to be content with this...the real sad thing is, this fight will go past hugely unnoticed by the people of these islands

So basically it's on Sky PPV?... but under the guise of a new channel.
