Super Six UK TV deal announcment Weds?

The BBC or ITV getting it would be great!!

 

You'll have to cross more than you fingers for the BBC to show the Super 6.....;O)

The reason ESPN is getting mentioned guys is because it is the most logical option. If we assume the story about an announcement for tomorrow for a TV deal is true, then where do you expect it to go? ITV who are phasing out boxing, Sky who have been against Saturday shows and have a pretty full schedule or ESPN who are still looking to acquire content?

I don't know who owns the UK rights to the tourney exactly but it makes sense that he would have some input because no channel is gong to take the other fights without Froch. Sauerland, DiBella etc. know that they are strongest selling in bulk in this country because Froch is the draw

 

well i have heard it coud be ESPN,but keep that on the QT.I dont want it getting into the press..or becoming mainstream

 

The problem with that is that does Froch have enough leverage to get his fights on TV AND the others at a decent price for all concerned? H

He's struggled to get both his last two fights televised even without having to piggyback other, less attractive fights along with it.

The UK broadcaster (whoever it is) may only want to pay/ show the Froch fights and may not be at all interested in paying ANY extra for most of the others.

 

There's rumours that the new sports channel on Sky 'MSK' is actually Setanta and they are making a comeback. Hopefully they will pick up some Boxing rights.

Appears to be an Irish concern, whether linked to Setanta or not. Probably likely to be coverage of Irish sports for expats in the UK. Ie. they ain't going to be showing any boxing (at least not any that needs paying for in more than coins...)

Absolutely, I'm not arguing any of that. All I was saying is that I think Hennessey would be in a position to sell the rights to the whole tourney and it appears he has made some kind of deal so potentially could be for the whole tournament

 

Would imagine that if Hennessy does own all the UK rights then he gets to keep all the cash. Which would make some kind of sense. So there wouldn't need to be any divvying up of cash or anything.

 

It was on ITV1 and still did **** figures (only 1-2m on a Saturday night). Though Hennessy and ITV's promotion of that was really ****.
