Now look at the size comparison of Abraham to the other 5 guys and say he doesn't want to take challenges or "ducked" Pusslik. Given his size disadvantage he should be the underdog in every fight.

Abraham will KO Taylor in mid rounds.

    Froch KO Dirrell late.

    Kessler UD over Ward.

I think it's between Froch and Kessler for the tournie.

    Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler

For some odd reason I think Taylor will win the whole thing.

Agreed:yep Love him or hate him he's still a class boxer, he was streets clear against froch until the usual gassing out & 4 that reason i'am opting 4 Dirrell 2 pull off a shocker & UD Froch & Kessler 2 beat Ward.

I think that this is all we've been waiting 4 set set boxing alight again, bring it on rapid i say:happy

    Abraham, Dirrel, Kessler

Taylor has the LEAST shot of winning the whole thing. JT is done.

If that would be a tournament of 8 rounders, Taylor would have a good shot at winning. With 12 rounds, he will have a problem, but that can be addressed. It's not like every fighter gasses in the last 2 rounds, that must have a reason.

Fact is, it says a lot about Abraham to relinquish his safe title, move up in weight, and immediately go into such a tournament with no tuneups, facing top fighters considerably bigger than him, being the underdog in literally every fight. And it also tells a lot about those "fans" who keep bullshitting about him, calling that "running scared from Pavlik" (did I say "Idiot" ?).

You are of course right. Often fighters can get away with 'he said, I said", but in this case AA made the ultimate statement.

Noone in their right mind can now beleve that AA has ever run from Pavlik.

I like the idea a lot, but can't help feel a single elimination tourney with 8 fighters would've been awesome too. Maybe with Bute and Bika to round out the field..

Then you'd get people sitting on decisions. The format here ensures a material benefit to getting the stoppage.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is a much better format than single elimination.

There is a much higher chance of crowning the best fighters in this format.

The off-day is not necessarily going to be all-decisive here. If a fighter has one off-day he can come back and win the whole thing. Imagine Lennox Lewis losing to Rahan and then Rahman continuing in the tourney and in the end they would have crowned someone - but not Lennox because he had been knowcked out. IF Lennox was in a league format like this there is much higher chance that he would have made the final.

For the inconsistent boxers or the boxers who are really not that good - for them perhaps the luck which single elimination introduces is in their favor, but for the fans and the best fighters this current set-up is far preferable.
