~ SUPER SIX WORLD BOXING CLASSIC - R1 is over as Ward dominates Kessler ~

I have to back my boy Jermain. BHop X 2, Winky Wright, Pavlik X 2, Froch. If resume's did the fighting, JT would whoop 'em all. However, I have just about zero confidence in him at this point. He may be completely ruined. The pre-pavlik version would run circles around Abraham, but who knows what he has left.

I think Dirrell is a bit green, and won't be able to keep Froch off of him for 12 rounds. I expect a late TKO for Froch.

Kessler is going to give Ward a boxing less. This is the only pick I have full confidence in.

 

to echo konaman, I'm not 100% certain about any of these; all awesome fights but...

1. i've been a huge jt fan, no reason to stop now. i think he can pull this off (UD tho, i don't see him stopping aa)
2. dirrell is inexperienced but you gotta earn your stripes at some point. if he can stick to the gameplan against froch i think he can win via UD
3. kess...ward has a big upside, just think its too early for him to face someone like kess

Actually, he's a bit pissed off. So am I. Sauerland is a shrewd man. He kept AA in the daily news for months by yapping about KP. In the mean time, while he claimed he was negotiating for a Pavlik fight, he was putting this tournament together. Pavlik was not invited, because Sauerland never had any intentions of letting Pavlik get near The Great Can Killer.

 

Unlike Pavlik, Arthur actually expressed his eager to fight Pavlik ALL the time.
Pavlik however, expressed his hunger for a fight with a guy like Duddy live on the biggest boxing radio.

after round 1 there be only 3 winners. How are they going to match them up? Still missing one boxing match, could it be Green vs Bute?

 

It's not an elimination tournament. Each fighter signs for 3 fights. You advance to the semi-finals based on a points system. At the end of the day the two men with the most points will fight, the two men with 2nd most will fight, et.

Man I would rather see Dawson and Pavlik in and either Dirrell or ward out, and taylor out...Or better yet just add Dawson and Pavlik to the mix and make it a true won and move on tourney. It makes it alot more real with fewer fights. As it stands it will take the rest of 09, all ot 10 and most of 11 and that is only if no one gets a cut, or any kind of injuries. This is really hopeful thinking but its not going to go down, it may start, but it will never finish, what happens is Taylor gets waxed in his first two fight do you really think that he would fight the next fight??? What happens if the often hurt Kessler has another back issue and is off to a year??? To many problems can come up..Just keep it simple

Abraham, Froch and Ward. I think Ward is a very good fighter, one of the best in the technical department. Kessler imho is overrated (though world-class...he's just not as unbeatable as many fans believe) and we don't know in which shape he'll show up.

I'm pretty happy with the Abraham/Taylor poll. Winning on an ESB poll is worse than Teddy Atlas picking you!
