    From Brisbane's The Courier-Mail:

"LOGAN forklift driver Alex Leapai tried to become a human bulldozer but super slick American heavyweight Kevin Johnson turned him back with a crushing ninth-round stoppage at Doomben Racecourse.

It was one of the best performances seen by a boxer in Queensland as Johnson survived a pair of torrid opening rounds to dominate a man who had knocked out two men who had fought for the world heavyweight title.

Johnson's only loss in 28 fights was a 12-round decision to world champ Vitali Klitschko in Switzerland three years ago and he scored his 12th KO in defeating Leapai.

Supported by a small army of Brisbane's Samoan community and a big contingent of Brisbane Broncos including Peter Wallace, ****** Hodges, Ben Te'o and Matt Gillett, Leapai came steaming out of his corner intent on another spectacular knockout.

But it wasn't to be and from the fifth round the cocky American showboated behind a radar left jab and right hand as he hit Leapai at will.

Eventually the weight of punches to head and body proved too much for 32-year-old Leapai who suffered his fourth loss against 25 wins and three draws.

He was in desperate trouble in his own corner late in round nine when his trainer Noel Thornberrry prompted referee Adrian Cairns to call a merciful halt."
