IMO, the best 6 fighters h2h to ever fight in the actual supermiddleweight division are...

JAMES TONEY (of the Iran Barkley fight in 1993)

ROY JONES JR (of the Thomas Tate fight in 1994)

NIGEL BENN (of the Gerald McClellan fight in 1995)

JOE CALZAGHE (of the Jeff Lacy fight in 2006)

ANDRE WARD (of the Mikkel Kessler fight in 2009)

LUCIAN BUTE (of the Librado Andrade rematch in 2009)

*Apologies to fans of Steve Collins, Chris Eubank, Sven Ottke, etc, but there are only 6 places so this is my personal selection

If we had a poll to pick the winner, then Roy Jones would get 90%+ of the votes and make it a rather dull thread (and rightly so, because peak RJJ was the best fighter of the six without a doubt).

So I'm not going to bother with the poll, just comment on who you think would come out on top, who you think would come last, and how you think the tournament would pan out :good

    Roy Jones, not even close.

    And why not Chris Eubank?

Benn clearly deserved the win when they fought at 168. I don't think Eubank ever replicated his middleweight form at supermiddle.

Why is Andre Ward here? I backed him to beat Kessler (who I have always said is nothing) and think he is currently top 3, but this is just silly.

Same with Bute. He has the skills but top 6 ever? No.

Who that has fought in the smw division would beat them then?

honestly, you brought up steve collins and i think he has a serious shot against anybody save for jones and an on point james toney. i'm a bute fan and he's a solid pick but eubank could make a case in his stead

Bob Fitzsimmons would knock them all out. On the same night that is.

Roy Jones 8-4 over James Toney in the finals.

Pity he fought light years before the division was formally created.

Joe, was few years out of his prime, and Ward, was way too dirty to warrant a really great performance.

No Hearns? I cant stand him and dont think he'd win any top6er but Otke did allot in the division

Eubank never impressed me at 168, not once.

I like Collins, but his lack of speed would be sorely exposed by someone like Ward IMO.

Ottke did a lot in the division, but that clearly isn't the point of the thread.

What fight of Hearns's at 168 demonstrated to you that he'd beat any of these guys there?
