George Groves (28-3, 20 KO) is already after the first examination of the shoulder injured in the semi-final World Boxing Super Series fight with Chris Eubank. The Briton argues that his participation in the final of the tournament planned for June 2 is not at risk.

- We did x-rays, tomorrow I'll see a specialist and see exactly what happened. I'm sure it will be fine. The problem would have been if the bone had been damaged, but the X-ray showed no such thing. I can not hide that I suffered a trauma yesterday, but I hope that everything will be fine - said "Saint" in an interview with IFL TV.

Groves in the final battle for Muhammad Ali's Trophy crosses the gloves with the winner of the fight Jurgen Brahmer (49-3, 35 KO) - Callum Smith (23-0, 17 KO).

 

James Degale has started training for Truax rematch.

"Preparation is in full swing, James Degale sparring," said ex-champion Jim McDonnell. "The revenge against Truax is a fight that we need the most, so we hope that it will take place. I'm sure that James will put everything in its place. The other day, he looked very good in sparring against a boxer, who, perhaps, is stronger than Truax. After this sparring, he told me: "Jim, you'll see what I'll do with Truax." He really wants to regain his title. "

 

“I haven’t diagnosed it yet but it feels pretty sore,” Groves said in the ring afterwards.

“I wasn’t going to let anything beat me. I’ve boxed on with cuts, broken jaws, everything. Here, I wasn’t going to let any injury get me out. It was about who wanted it most I think and I obviously wanted it most.”

Groves went to hospital rather than attending the post-fight press conference, where his trainer Shane McGuigan elaborated on his fighter’s problem.

 

“I couldn’t see out of my right eye for pretty much most of the fight,” Eubank Jr revealed.

“That affected my style. I had to resort to loading up because every time he would move to my right I couldn’t see him. I would just throw big punches.”

 

“We’ll wait for the assessment from George’s doctor [before making a decision about the final],” Sauerland said in the aftermath of the fight. “We’re very hopeful that it’s just a dislocation [of the shoulder] and not a tear of something.

“Given that it apparently popped back in, that sounds like a good sign, but we’ll only know on Monday or Tuesday at the earliest and then we will know whether we need a replacement.”

“If next week’s semi-final is a war or a controversial decision, you may look at making that as a rematch [in the final],” Sauerland added. “You simply don’t know these things.

“There are other guys out there that are very capable of stepping up, but I would always look to find a story line that is attached to the tournament.”

 

Braehmer has withdrawn. Korobov will most likely enter the WB Super Series.

 

Comosa, which is the parent company behind the World Boxing Super Series, is likely going to announce Smith's new opponent later today.
