Jermall Charlo also told ESPN.com that representatives for Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc. have inquired recently about signing him and his brother to promotional contracts. Arum also wants to add top fighters to showcase as part of his company’s exclusive deal with ESPN.

    Canelo/Golovkin 2 is off.

"It is clear to us that Golovkin does not want to fight Canelo," De La Hoya said. "It's clear to us that after all the demands on their part, after Canelo had to pass the hair for the test, I had to join VADA, I had to pass the tests set by the Nevada Sports Commission, it's obvious that Golovkin is afraid." So I'll start contacting the representatives of Daniel Jacobs, Billy Joe Saunders, Jermall Charlo and Spike O'Sullivan. "

De La Hoya said that on Thursday morning Tom Leffler, Golovkin's promoter, informed him that Golovkin "does not want to fight." That's all that Tom said. They will not get better conditions than those that are now. "

Leffler, in turn, admitted that he was trying to achieve better conditions for his ward than those that were agreed for the fight in May, which broke through the disqualification of Alvarez.

"If they want to try other options, it's their right, but I think that's more about Canelo," said Golovkin's promoter. - Golovkin is not afraid of anybody in middle weight. He went to many [financial] concessions before the first battle and before the revenge. And since the revenge was canceled [through Canelo's fault] he wants a fairer share. And in the situation with the IBF, he believes that there is Canelo's fault. If the fight with Canelo took place in May, there would be no questions with the title of IBF. There were many problems because of the positive doping test Canelo. He wants just compensation. "

De La Hoya did not categorically deny the possibility of a fight with Golovkin, but the team of Alvarez does not intend to make any concessions in comparison with those conditions that were agreed for the May duel.

"It all depends on how quickly I agree with Jacobs, Charlo or Saunders," the promoter said if Golovkin-Alvarez is still possible. "It can still take place, but I'm not going to wait for anyone." For such a big fight on PPV, we need at least three months of promotion. There is less time, and we need to act. My main options are Charlo, Saunders and Danny Jacobs. "

Nevertheless, Leffler is not going to give up attempts to organize this fight. "They both received the biggest royalties in their careers, a rematch makes sense for both," the promoter said. - Now, after the positive test of Alvarez, this battle has become even more significant. If Canelo and Golovkin do not want to agree, it will be sad news for boxing. "

Golden Boy Prez: Golovkin Rematch is Dead, Ridiculous Demands!

“As of right now, it’s dead,” Gomez said to the Press Enterprise.

“We wasted five, six weeks – give or take – waiting on an answer from them. All the major deal points were done. They came back [on Thursday] with ridiculous demands, just ridiculous. Really, to wait five, six weeks for the type of answer they came back with [on Thursday], it’s insulting.”

"We’re moving on. I do believe [Golovkin is scared], because it’s been one excuse after another,” Gomez said. “… With what they came back with [on Thursday], they clearly want to kill the fight.”

British promoter Eddie Hearn said that the main matchmaker of Golden Boy Robert Diaz came out with a proposal to organize a battle between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and the former WBA champion Danny Jacobs who is on the contract agreement with Hearn.

As Hearn said in an interview with The Ring magazine, Jacobs likes the idea of such a fight and he believes that he can beat Alvarez. If the parties manage to agree, the match will be held in September and will be shown by the HBO television channel as part of a paid broadcast.

And Golovkin will most likely fight Derevchenko, Saunders or Murata. Eubank Jr is an outside possibility.

According to Loeffler, Golovkin is simply looking for a better deal.

He says Canelo is holding firm on a 65-35 financial split - while Golovkin, as the unified champion, wants at least a 50-50 split. There was a split of 70-30 in the first contest.

Loeffler previously explained that Canelo gave Miguel Cotto a 55% share of the money back in 2015 - and the Golovkin fight did a bigger gate and a higher pay-per-view buyrate.

“All Gennady came back with is that, ‘I just want a fair split, I want a 50-50 split. I’m the champion,’” Loeffler said to The Press Enterprise.

“We made a lot of concessions for the first fight, was a very low percentage for Gennady. We made a lot of concessions for the rematch after Gennady proved his value.

“But Canelo, for whatever reason, was insisting on still having a huge advantage. … It was 65-35 percent for the rematch and Gennady thinks that’s just not fair. Taking 35 percent as the champion is just not fair.”

f the rematch doesn't happen, Golovkin - who holds the IBF, WBA, WBC, IBO world titles - will have to make a mandatory defense against Sergiy Derevyanechenko.

But the WBC believes Charlo is the mandatory fight that needs to happen. Charlo became the mandatory challenger in July 2017, when he won a final eliminator over Sebastian Heiland.

"Golovkin has all our support, but if the fight is not done, he will have to go with Charlo, because the entire history is clear as it is, so we are recommending to him to do what is best for him, because he wants to do the rematch [with Canelo], he wants to earn the money that he will generate there, and he wants that visibility that he has always wanted around the world," Sulaiman told ESPN Deportes.

"He has sacrificed so much for so many years to get to this point and now for something that is not so important [like the financial split] is putting him at risk. It would be strange to me if that fight [with Canelo] is not done."

WBC junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo (30-0, 15 KOs) says he’s been given promotional offers from Top Rank and Matchroom Boxing USA promoter Edidie Hearn, according to Boxingtalk.com.

Charlo, 28, is currently with Al Haymon, and he fights on Showtime broadcasts. If Charlo signs with Hearn, he’ll be televised on his DAZN/Perform platform, which is monthly subscription service. Hearn signed an 8-year, $1 billion deal with DAZN recently, and he has a lot of money to sign fighters. Hearn has 16 U.S dates per year to televise fights. Hearn might be about to outbid Top Rank for Charlo if he’s willing to give him big bank.

Despite having loads of talent, Charlo has found himself on undercards instead of headlining. If Charlo signs with Hearn or Arum, that could change. Of course, it’s not look good if Charlo is headlining against poor opposition. For Charlo’s career to take off, he needs to have a serious upgrade in competition.

If Top Rank promoter Bob Arum signs Charlo, then he’ll be fighting on ESPN. Arum recently signed WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez to his Top Rank stable. Arum looks like he’s trying to add a lot of new fighters to his stable in a real hurry. It should be interesting to see which direction Charlo’s career goes in if he signs with Top Rank. They’ll likely be able to give Charlo a lot of fight dates on ESPN. But as far as setting up big fights for Charlo, they will be in the same boat as Haymon in that respect.

The 154lb division isn’t loaded with stars right now. Charlo will soon be facing IBF/WBA champion Jarrett Hurd in a unification fight. Hurd is a real threat to Charlo, as is WBO champion Jaime Munguia. Charlo can punch, but he’s not in the same league as Munguia and Hurd in the power department. Those two are a couple of beasts when it come to their punching power. Charlo is a boxer/puncher. If Top Rank signs Charlo, they’ll want to match him tough, and I’m not sure if he’ll be able to handle some of the top guys. The worst thing that could happen with Charlo is for him to sign with Top Rank and then no longer have access to fighting guys managed by Haymon. That would be disappointing.

The two world champion will be headlining separate events in the coming months to build toward a unification.

"The good news is we've signed Benavidez to a promotional contract. So we will be featuring Benavidez later this summer, headlining his own card," said the 86-year-old.

"Then down the road I'm looking forward to a Benavidez fight with Ramirez for all the marbles."

Jose Benavidez, David’s brother, is also promoted by Top Rank and fights on the Terence Crawford v Jeff Horn bill on June 9th.

Ramirez, who makes the fourth defence of his WBO crown in Oklahoma on June 30th, will be headlining his third successive show.

Arum believes the California-based Mexican is on his way to becoming a star. Unifications with the likes of Benavidez, James DeGale or George Groves would certainly help to build his profile.

"He has the talent, he has the looks. We've had a tutor with him so he's speaking very good, conversational English. He's a lovely young man and a really good fighter," explained Arum.

"I think that he has a real shot to be the next big Hispanic superstar."

“I don’t think that whenever the WBC reaches out about a fight that they’re doing it just to play around,” Jermell Charlo said. “This sport is serious. We would love to be a part of a GGG fight. We’re tired of hearing the media say to put the Charlos in there with better competition. I’ve heard that every fight. As long as I’m winning fights and I’m entertaining the fans, that’s what I’m going to do.”

We are training and are working to return to the ring on August 11," Chavez said. - I pulled a little leg, but the training camp started well. I can not name an opponent, but we are thinking about Sergio More, Vaness Martirosyan. I want to return in weight to 76.5 kg (168-169 pounds), this is not a championship fight, and I have not performed for a year. I want to hold this fight and one more before I look for a big duel. "Canelo had a contract for which he would have received 65 percent, but he failed the doping tests, and broke the fight," Rafael wrote. - Based on this, he really should sacrifice part of his share in favor of Golovkin, so that the revenge took place in September. But Golovkin hovers in the clouds, if he thinks he will get half. In my opinion, Golovkin deserves more than 35, which he agreed earlier, because of the positive doping tests of Alvarez, and the financial losses that they caused. But still, Canelot remains a party to A. And this fight is still the most attractive for them both. They need each other to earn their largest royalties. I think it would be fair to do 60 to 40 in favor of Canelo, or slightly increase the share of Golovkin. "

Rafael proposed to allocate a small part of the prize fund as an award to the winner. "Another possible, in my opinion, option is to agree on a division with a small advantage of Canelo, and allocate a part, say 5 or 10 percent, which the winner will receive. For example, Canelo gets 45, Golovkin - 40, and the winner takes another 15 percent. If Canello wins, he will get 60 percent. If Golovkin wins, he will also get much more. "

”I think that we’re very close,” De La Hoya said to Fghthub about the Canelo vs. Golovkin negotiations. ”We’re not far away. We’re very close, and I’m hoping it can get done in the next couple of days,” De La Hoya said.

”It’s ludicrous, it really is,” De La Hoya said when asked what Canelo’s reaction was when he was told that Golovkin wants a 50-50 purse split against him. ”It’s ridiculous. Triple G can go fight Vanes and make a million dollars or he can go fight Canelo and make $20 million. It doesn’t make any business sense. How can one fighter demand 50-50 when he’s not even a draw at all?” De La Hoya said.

”Canelo can go fight [Daniel] Jacobs and do 800+ homes, easy,” De La Hoya said.
