Adrien Broner last week announced his “retirement” from boxing via a message on social media. Well, so much for that. According to Broner’s latest social media announcement, he has just signed a huge $50 million deal for five fights with The Money Team, Mayweather Promotions.

Plenty of web sites have picked up on this story, with some saying they do not believe “The Problem” has really signed such a deal. As fans know, Broner and Floyd Mayweather Junior have had their differences over the years, with fallouts and various exchanged insults. But now, according to Broner, the two have sat down and agreed on the big-money five fight deal:

@floydmayweather I’m glad we was able to sit down and workout our differences…. I was glad to sign the 5 fight promotional contract for 50 million #Brothas4Eva #TMT #? #BigBro”

Another question fight fans may ask, aside from whether or not the deal is in fact genuinely signed and sealed (Broner says and writes so much on social media, how do we know for sure he is telling the truth this time?), is, has the former four-weight world champion got five fights left in him, at elite level?

Assuming the deal is real, Mayweather will not want Broner to face soft touches or easy opponents. Again, can Broner – a fighter who notoriously blows hot and cold and who has in fact lost the biggest fights of his pro career, to Marcos Maidana, Shawn Porter and most recently Mikey Garcia – buckle down and work hard enough to put five straight wins in the bag?

If the deal is real it could equal big excitement and just maybe Broner will at last show the world the greatness many people once believed he had in him. Recently Broner turned down an offer from British promoter Eddie Hearn, for far less cash than the alleged $50 million. Now we know why.

It will be interesting to see who “Money” Mayweather matches Broner with in the first of the five fights and then in the remaining four.

Fedor Chudinov will face Nadjib Mohammedi for the WBA interim championship belt on Gasiev/Usyk undercard, on July 21st card. Nadjib Mohammedi is on 3 fight winning streak since his loss to Gvozdyk by KO 2.

Also on the Gasiev/Usyk undercard will be the fight between Andrey Sirotkin and Vladimir Siskin. Sirotkin beat Ryan Ford in his last fight by a rather close decision and Vladimir Shishkin beat Sergey Khomitski by 7th round KO. I pick Shiskin to win.

I'm very tired of not seeing Golovkin against other champions. If he will loose to Canelo come September that might benefit the division.

A Brooklyn-resident who has made the borough home for his whole career, Quillin returned to the ring last September when he defeated Dashon Johnson by unanimous decision. The former middleweight champion made three title defenses after winning his title from Hassan N’Dam in Brooklyn and his only loss came at the hands of former champion Daniel Jacobs.

“I’m excited to be back at home in New York in front of my fans and people I love so dearly,” Quillin said. “I’m coming back more polished and more seasoned and a man of God. I’ve definitely always been a guy who steps out and does what people think I can’t do. I know J’Leon is looking to make a splash. He needs a name on his resume. I have to do everything in my power to make sure that doesn’t happen. Either he’s going to have to learn a hard lesson or give me a hard lesson.”

The 30-year-old Love enters this fight unbeaten in his last seven contests after most recently defeating Jaime Barboza in May. The Michigan-native who now trains and lives in Las Vegas had previously defeated a slew of contenders and will look to move closer to a world title shot with a victory over Quillin on August 4.

“I think this is a really good matchup,” said Love. “Peter Quillin is a very talented fighter and a former world champion who is always in great shape. He’s someone you have to train very hard for and that you definitely cannot take lightly. I’m just grateful for the opportunity to fight a spectacular fighter like him. We’ll put on a great fight.”

    Salita Promotions inks Aslambek Idigov
Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions has signed Russian super middleweight prospect Aslambek Idigov to a promotional contract.

Undefeated Idigov (13-0, 5 KOs) hails from Grozny, Russia, but is currently training in Detroit with Javan SugarHill Steward at Kronk Gym. The 22-year-old slugger made his debut under the Salita Promotional banner last June, with an impressive unanimous 10-round decision over then once-beaten James Ballard at the Masonic Temple in Detroit.

Idigov won the IBO Youth Super Middleweight Title in December 2016 with a unanimous decision over countryman Igor Selivanov.

“Training in Detroit at the Kronk Gym has helped me in many ways,” said Idigov. “I learned how to train like a pro and am learning different techniques and boxing tactics. It has taken my game to new levels.”

Promoter Salita, who is amassing a large stable of promising Eastern Bloc fighters, male and female, says his Russian prospect is developing quickly working out at Kronk.

“Aslambek is a strong, hungry, aggressive fighter. Seeing him improve every day over the last several months, training in Detroit, and his impressive win over James Ballard showed me that he has real world-class potential. At only 22 years old with already several quality wins under his belt, Aslambek is on his way to becoming a force in the super middleweight division.”

Ramirez was supposed to defend his World Boxing Council 140 lb. title against #15 WBC Danny O’Connor last Saturday night on ESPN at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California. O’Connor, 33, pulled out of the fight after suffering dehydration on Friday while attempting to make weight. It was too short notice for a replacement opponent to be found to face the 25-year-old Ramirez.

Arum wants Ramirez, 25, to fight the day before middleweights Saul Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin fight on September 15. Arum staging Ramirez’s fight the day before the Canelo-Golovkin II rematch will likely attract more interest in Ramirez’s fight due to the attention put on the boxing world by casual fans, who

“He’s going to headline the date,” Arum said to the Fresno Bee. “We’ll be selecting an opponent in the next week and make the announcement, and hopefully we can bring that fight back to Fresno. Our matchmakers had a meeting (Saturday) and have a list of three to four names. Everyone on the list is a good fight for Jose.”

There was no hint from Arum about the possible options for Ramirez’s next fight on September 14, but it’s likely one of these fighters from the WBC’s top 15 rankings:

    – Hikodi Okada

    – Yves Ulysse Jr.

    – Antonio DeMarco

    – Alberto Puello

    – Mohamed Mimoune

    – Antonio Orozco

Better than Madiev who draw with Pito just hours ago. That means at least fringe contender.
