I go with the train of thought that says a prime Foreman would have beaten a prime Frazier. Although Frazier would always have given Ali a harder fight than Foreman would have given him. Frazier would also have had a better chance of beating people like Larry Holmes than Foreman would.

I agree. It has to be said though that Norton seemed pretty confident in his rematch with Jose Luis Garcia who'd knocked him out the first time.

Foreman didn't catch Frazier but surprise so much as he caught Frazier with some massively devastating punches. I can't see any plausible scenario in which Joe - or Ken - defeat the first version of Foreman.

When the final blow by Foreman on Norton was some form of forearm punch, then you know you have just got your butt run over.

Foreman immediately talked some trash at Norton right after Norton staggered up.

Norton's psych was forever broken against Foreman.

    Foreman in 5 in a "Fight 2".

Check out the movement Joe employed in his rematch with George, aging, shot, and over 20 pounds above his best weight. (He also moved well against Stander and Chuvalo.) I think the 203 pound Frazier of the first Quarry fight would have had the resilience and adaptability to weather the early storm and recover sufficiently to drown Foreman in deep water, certainly in a rematch a la Patterson with Ingo, if not in an initial meeting. (The FOTC depleted Joe in a way a rapid stoppage loss would not. If Ali had never returned from exile, I do believe Frazier defeats George at least once in a series. I agree completely though that there's no plausible way Ken could manage this.)
