I think a good counter puncher would beat foreman and peak tyson was phenominal at timing people with longer arms from the outside. remember im talking about a focused tyson within his short peak, not the guy who was easily frustrated who had two modes- "beat-up mode" and "wait around clueless mode". that second guy would have serious trouble beating any game world class title chalengers including foreman, frazier norton etc. the peak tyson was a match for anyone till he gets frustrated.
Mike Tyson blows through everyone but runs through a brickwall called Sonny Liston. Tyson then rebounds and beats everyone post Liston but gets put in the slammer for three years. Liston is dead and the HW championship is vacant during Tyson's imprisonment. Frazier becomes the NYSAC beltholder and beats Ellis for the WBA title and vacates the NYSAC. Tyson beats Quarry in a hardfought bout due to ring rust and KO's Bonavena. Tyson agrees to fight Frazier in 1971 and has early success in the fight putting Frazier down early. Frazier storms back to stop Mike late. Tyson has 3 losses on his record now and agrees to fight Foreman after beating solid contenders in Norton, Foster and Patterson. Tyson KO's Frazier after he got KO'd by Foreman. Then Tyson is KO'd by the seemingly invincible Foreman in 1974. Foreman loses to Young in a stunning upset which opens the door for Tyson once again after his KO over Frazier. Despite being past prime he KO's Young and takes the crown in 1977. Tyson rules until 1980 where he is TKO'd by Larry Holmes. He drops a decision to Berbick and retires after that in 1981. Tyson finishes with 6 losses on his record. Muhammad Ali bursts onto the scene in 1985 and wins the title in 1986 over Trevor Berbick. He maintains high activity and disposes of Bonecrusher Smith, Marvis Frazier, Tyrell Biggs, Tillis, Thomas and others. He wins a lopsided UD over an old inactive Larry Holmes. He then beats Tubbs and KO's Spinks to become the Undisputed Champ. He disposes of Frank Bruno by KO and dominates Douglas despite the best performance of Buster's life. He beats Tillman, Stewart and Ruddock twice before being banned from Boxing for three years. He comes back and disposes of McNeely in one round and Mathis Jr. in 5 rounds. He wins a late TKO over Bruno to get the title back. He drops a close decison to Holyfield but beats him in the rematch. He disposes a series of contenders including Golota but it is really aged at this point. He gets one more shot at glory against Lewis but is stopped.= in the mid rounds. He drops three more fights to low level competition and retires. He finishes with 5 losses on his record. That was fun.
i totally agree with what your saying, but when your coach, the guy who created you is saying your style isnt going to work against Foreman....what would you do? Tyson could nip it, ducking foremans wide looping punches, but what about when foreman pushes him back like he did Frazier? Thats a 50/50 fight for me, it COULD end up like Frazier Vs Foreman but longer because (no disrespect to frazier) Tyson had much more in his arsenal including one of the greatest defences ever, Foremans size power and chin vs tysons speed, defense and power....= Big ?
The only version of Muhammad Ali that I could see struggling with the likes of Williams,Thomas and Bruno is the one from 1976 onwards. In the time frame that I've pllayed out,Ali would have fought these guys at age 23/24. At the time when he was beating Cleveland Williams and Terrel. Virtually a peak Ali. Interesting.
