Gonzalez being a four-division "champion" is fluff for the modern, convoluted age. He has been THE Champion in one class, and that was 112. That, however, is historically significant and his ability to overcome all sorts of quality fighters in the process shows that it was no fluke. His wins over Estrada, Cuadras, and Rungvisai look especially good in light of the fact that he did so past his prime and as an aggressor. Gonzalez's mini-revival supplements his legacy nicely, as well. After all, he was very close to becoming THE Champion at 115 last night against a guy who is one of the sport's premier fighters.

Not really. That would be like saying Canelo ranks higher than Hagler (RIP) because Hagler only stayed in one division.

Choco is great no doubt but I'm still more impressed by Finito's long reign and amount of defenses as well as him retiring undefeated.

Finito has been ranked on the 100 ATG list(usually around the middle) for quite some time now and I've yet to see a list where Choco ranks that high and I doubt losing 3 fights in the last 4 years is going to get him over the hump.

Also keep in mind that as good as Chocolatito is, he has never looked near flawless like Ricardo Lopes did throughout most of his career.

Nah.. were discussing Choco vs finito.. and imo choco has had a greater career, and won titles in the 4 lowest divisions in boxing, something finito wasnt able to do through his reign as champion.

Are you really trying to diminish chocos accomplishments being a 4 division world champion in the 4 lowest weight classes? Youre saying his 4 divisional titles dont mean much?

Not at all. I'm a huge Gonzalez fan and his 4 div. run is impressive but not as impressive as Finito's aforementioned accomplishments IMO.

Here's a partial list of other 4 div. title holders that also fall behind Lopez in ATG terms; Cotto, Arce, E. Morales, Broner, M Garcia, etc.

You find Erik Morales less impressive than Ricardo Lopez?

Skills-wise Lopez was head and shoulders above Morales.

Are you not familiar with Lopez?

Idk what were talking about. I thought it was head to head finito vs Choco.. not every other 4 division champion in boxing.
