If triangle theory worked, then Zhang (who destroyed Joyce) would have beaten Parker (who got destroyed by Joyce. But boxing isn’t fought on paper. The Ngannou/Wallin fights change nothing, just like the Joyce fights changed nothing.
Being the bigger man, Fury's lean, smother and grab routine might work. He's not a better boxer than Usyk but he knows how to use his size well.
Fury fights nothing like AJ, so it's hard to tell how Usyk will deal with him. AJ's team had the intel on Wallin and MMA fighter, which makes a big difference. If Fury had fought Ruiz, it would have been his easiest fight. He'd also handle others much easier. So it depends on what comparisons you want to make. Why isn't there a comparison between how both Fury and AJ handled Wilder? Oh, because AJ refused the fight, lol.
I don't know if Usyk would be the favorite over Joshua if they fought today ... given how Joshua's current trainer has him acting like the natural power puncher he is ... and also now everyone knows Usyk can't take it to the belly. In a third fight, I doubt Joshua would look to "outbox" Usyk like he did the last two times with his old trainer. That's why Fury's going to be digging left hooks to Usyk's belly and sides from the jump. Sometimes it takes a handful of fights to determine a guy's weaknesses. Fury half-assed it against Ngannou, and there was no real "tape" on Francis boxing. Joshua and his trainer got to look at 10 rounds of tape on Ngannou, and the end result is what we saw yesterday. They knew everything Ngannou was going to do. When Joshua is aggressive and throwing bombs, he's as dangerous as anyone in the world. He just has his own "achilles" ... which is a hard left hook to the side of his head seems to discombobulate him. Nganoou switched to southpaw in the first round to try to land his own power left on the side of Joshua's head, and Joshua saw him switch and just uncorked on him. Joshua's current trainer (Fury's former trainer) is really good. Fury has identified that about Joshua, too. He's said as much in interviews. When Fury knows what a guy can do, and trains (like against Whyte, for example), it's pretty much a shutout. Fury knows the weak spots on Usyk AND Joshua. I don't think Fury's problem will be Usyk. I think it'll be Joshua, given Fury's former trainer is in Joshua's corner now and he knows Fury's weaknesses. Should be an interesting year or two upcoming. I truly LOVE this division. Always have. But there are so many unique characters filtering through right now. Great era in its own right.
I've always favoured Fury to manhandle the smaller Usyk and grind out a win and I still think he has the style to win. But no doubt this fight is far mor competitive on paper now as Fury looked to vulnerable in against Ngannou. The real question is what does Fury have left was that performance simply down to him not preparing properly or what it a sign that he's on the slide, if it's the latter then Usyk may very well come out on top.
Depends on how much Hearn Warren & Turk are conspiring to exlcude Usyk to get Fury v Joshua on. Usyk is the favourite for sure, but I could see a robbery, or controversial stoppage for Fury more than easily. Perosnally I feel that IF the fight takes place, Usyk needs a stoppage to be certain of victory (look at that egregious 15-13 card for Joshua in the 2nd fight). Just my 2c
