The promotion of this fight has been weak, and thats being kind.

I think it does anything between 300-350k maximum which will be a shame, because this fight could draw so many new fans to the sport.

You need a **** to sell huge numbers, a **** that will draw people in hoping that they get to see him knocked the **** out.

Cotto and Margarito are far too respectful to get themselves involved in that kind of ****, and thats whats going to hurt the numbers.

PPV's should be done away with all together, except for the top, top cards that could be put together.

Exactly, the card sucks, this isn't PPV worthy. It's an elite having a one sided showcase against a sub-elite, everyone expecting a war is going to be surprised.

I'm kind of torn on this. I ordered it already, and that sends the industry a message about how I feel about this matchup. However, it ALSO lets Arum (and the rest of the industry) know the following:

    1. Putting on a solid undercard is no longer important. Cmon, this undercard is dog****, and everyone knows it. Buying this fight just reinforces the idea that a PPV event is only about the top fight. Wouldn't it be nice if PPV's went back to previous years where the undercard was off the chain?

    2. Old school "promoting" is no longer necessary. Sure, there are buses running around Vegas with Cotto-Margarito graphics on them, and some other things, but those are directed at ticket buyers, not ppv buyers. Promoting should involve more than just relying on HBO announcements and a few press conferences.

So this fight kind of puts us in a catch-22. Because if we buy it, we aren't just saying we love the matchup. We are signing off on the 2 other points I listed above as well........

if this fight is a classic, they should sell it to network TV. they wil happily put it in a good slot if it is classic

Actually i think PPVwise he is gonna be bigger.
Mosley and Judah dont have the ability to bring in the Mexican crowd like Margarito will.

I remember before both fights not many of my mexican friends were buying it because well cotto is not mexican and neither are Mosley and Judah. Now everyone is excited and wants to see Margarito
