Regardless of whether a fighter won or lost after getting knocked down, what fighter surprised you the most by getting up ? Heavyweight only 1) Marciano getting up vs Walcott 2) Foreman getting up vs Ron Lyle 3) Ali getting up vs Frazier I 4) Holmes getting up vs Earnie Shavers 5) Buster Douglas vs Tyson ....or you can add your own
Archie Moore against Yvonne Durell in their first fight. Thought there was no way Archie could beat the 10-count.
Ferguson against Tyson after getting ripped with a big uppercut that broke his nose. Mercardo after getting hit with a massive Earnie Shavers overhand right.
How can you NOT bring up Chris Byrd vs. Ike Ibeabuchi?!? That was one of the loudest shots I've ever seen/heard in my life.
Not a major fight or anything, but I was surprised that Barrett got up against Tua in the rematch. He looked gone for all money when he was dropped.
Jimmy Ellis in his championship bout with Joe Frazier. The 1st KD in the 4th round he looked dead to the world but got up, but I was more surprised at the 2nd KD. That was a hellacious shot he took but still got up, although he was finished and rightfully retired on his stool by Dundee. But got to give Jimmy credit. He was tough. Scartissue
Bernardo Mercado was floored by a Shavers Bomb, i think it might have burst Earnies Glove, Bernardo got up, Saw out the round in retreat, then Came back at Earnie to grind out a Stoppage further down the road. Nigel Benn did well to get up from Terminator Logans big right hand in the first round, - (Nigel, in the 2nd round and on the brink of a Stoppage defeat, landed his own Thunderous left hook cum uppercut on Logan ....and terminated the Terminator. )
Hearns also showed alot heart getting up from the flying Hagler punch, had to be carried back to his corner afterwards.
Nice calls fellas, as always. Speaking of Terminators, Saad getting up against Kates at the end of the fourth was incredible; I thought Richie had shot him stone dead, the way he went down on his face. And for him to come back and win like he did......he was something else, was Saad. Fortunate for him that it happened at the end of the round, of course, but an amazing recovery nevertheless.
