Wladimir Klitschko hasn't been shy in expressing his righteous indignation over the Chisora-Haye showdown. He's called it "a freak show under freak rules" and "something that isn't good for the fans and sport." He won't hold back his disgust: "How can you have such an event featuring a man who has shown his behaviour to the world[...]To get a licence for this man [Chisora] is disgraceful for the sport[...]I do not want to talk about the fight because I did not want to see it even take place. Clearly, this is a man taking a moral stand. So it comes as something of a surprise to learn Wlad has sold the UK TV rights to his upcoming title defence to Box Nation, the very company responsible for Haye-Chisora taking place. Wlad is now trying to piggy back the hype for this fight to build up interest in his own completely unwanted bout against Tony Thompson. I guess Wlad isn't going to let his principles get in the way of more precious money.
If Sky don't want a fight then it's available for peanuts- I've heard figures as low as 10 grand to screen this fight for Boxnation. It's on RTL in Germany for those without Boxnation.
£10,000 for heavyweight champion in the world! That is a shocking indictment on the state of the heavyweight division.
If Sky aren't prepared to screen the fight then the rights are almost available for free- at that price terrestrial TV should be interested. Alas they are not.
The Klitschkos may be hypocrites when it comes to Haye/Chisora, but I don't think you can complain just because they do business with BoxNation. That hardly means they have to approve of everything that BoxNation does.
No one will watch it, Channel 5 and Sky Sports have live boxing the same time, plus the undercard is a joke. Sky+
