Yes, very good. Sushi and fish in general gives you supple shoulders and improves your left hook; also, the oils in the fish add to the layer of fluid around your brain and helps you take a better shot.

Sushi is great, but there is a caution. Basically ask yourself, "What am I eating this for?" Protien, omega 3 fatty acids, carbs. Great.

Problem is that it is raw. You, unless you know the fish monger, have no idea what type or quality of fish you are getting. Also a bout with food poisoning can, best case, knock you out of training for a week or two, worst case, end your career due to complications in your guts.

So if Boxing is your focus, just like raw eggs, you have to ask yourself, can I get this nutrition elsewhere? The answer to that is easy. Cooked fish, chicken, grass fed beef, whole oats, flax seed oil. Eat sushi for a tasty treat. Don't risk derailing a training camp for it.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl It's true!

The only sushi I would ever eat would be the salmon that I just caught out of the stream with my bare hands.

There's all sorts of sushi, most isn't raw. There are worse foods you could be eating, Depending on what you choose you can get some good protein and omega 3. I've only ever seen it with white rice though which isn't the best. Still the GI will be lowered with the protein and fat from the fillings so I say go for it, in moderation. Don't worry about quality, sushi is a pretty mainstream food these days, I have a feeling bald head is talking from a back in the day perspective.

Not raw sushi? Then you aren't eating the majority of sushi. There is sushi (with rice). There is sashimi (without rice). Both are like 99% raw unless you are eating shrimp, eggs, or eel (fresh/saltwater) at which time you are barely eating sushi and could do that for a fraction of the cost.

As far as white rice goes? Asians eat it with every meal and their obesity rates are a fraction of the West's. The west changes "the rules" on food every 15 years or so. I would go with thousands of years of practical application.

Don't worry about quality? The problem is that it is main stream and most people eating it have no idea what the fish they are eating tastes or looks like or if it is fresh. I am talking from the perspective of a person who knows. Which perspective are you speaking from? :think Be informed man. Don't put your body at risk. :good

The reason Asians and many other places don't have obesity issues is due to portion size, completely unrelated to quality of diet. I don't know what you're talking about when you say the west changes it's rules all the time, nutrition is a science and is constantly evolving, everything you eat obviously has a physiological reaction.
I don't know where you're from but around my area there are sushi places everywhere, sometimes 3 or 4 in the same shopping complex and the majority of the sushi sold doesn't even contain fish, mostly different types of chicken, vegetables, eggs etc. The fish ones have tuna (cooked) salmon (smoked) and salmon raw. Because sushi is so popular these days the quality control is pretty good. Maybe the sushi isn't traditional japanese 'sushi' but that's what sushi is to most people nowadays.

I've been eating sushi all these years and I've yet to have one where they have the tuna cooked or the salmon smoked. Chicken with sushi?! :scaredas:

Those places must be very non-traditional, very westernized.

I guess I've only been going to traditional ones. Some of the ones I've been to are actually korean owned, while some of the ones that were japanese had that fusion thing going. But I may have to try these funky westernized sushi places. They sound interesting.

How often have you been to Asia? How many countries? Asians THROW DOWN when they eat. I have watched old ladies put back spreads that would knock down a 20 year old man. So keep believing that it has nothing to do with quality. Oh and since Asian countries are introducing Western foods? Their obesity rates are steadily climbing.

I know you don't know what I am talking about. Just look at Western nutritional guidelines, "No fat." now it is different. The next they are telling you, "Less meat more grains." now it is different. They have no idea what the hell they are talking about. Our grandparents ate complete "crap" by present standards (bacon, eggs, beef fat, lard,). Those that didn't die early lived healthier and longer than probably most of us can hope to.

Nutrition is not a "science". That crap was figured out by our ancestors centuries ago. Our "so smart we are stupid" modern butts are letting food companies fool us. Is breathing a science? No. It is something that evolved with your body. So just look at the people who have the longest and most natural food traditions to find "truth". What school did a native living in the Amazon go to?

Hahaha, then you are not eating sushi. :nono You probably live in a mono-cultural area where a bunch of non-Japanese Asians are making a killing off of you guys. So no my man, that isn't sushi to most people. That is just sushi to the "live your whole life in a 25 mile radius" circle you run in. Does any of it come smothered in mayo, cheese, and/or gravy? :yep

Travel brother. Travel. If you are young? Get out now! The world is a wondrous place. :thumbsup
