From the sounds of the original poster it seems as if he's asking if he should include sushi as a staple of his diet, I'm gonna make a guess that he's not going to be travelling to Asia every lunch time to pick up a tray of sushi so I don't see what relevance your talk of travel has to anything. He's obviously going to be picking it up from a shopping mall or his local japanese store and I was simply pointing out that because it's so popular they are not going to be using dodgy ingredients and have customers walking out the door with food poisoning. Sushi isn't an exotic food anymore bud, and sushi is sushi regardless if it's made by a legitimate oriental man or not.

Nutrition is a science, different diets are studied and recommendations are made based on that and the known physiological reactions in the body from different sorts of foods. Do you really expect guidelines to stay the same from the 50s ? Currently most nutritional guidelines suggest to follow a mediterranean style diet due to the excellent health of the people from those regions. The problem is that people in the West supersize their meals and too much of anything is not good for you.

You are also way off when talking about our grandparents diets, you need to remember that they would of eaten far less processed foods and smaller serves than us. Anyway eating '****' food every now and then isn't going to affect anyone if their diet is varied. Even in the obesity ravaged USA life expectancy has been increasing.

I'll do you a deal, I'll travel more if you agree to read a bit more and educate yourself :good

Now you just sound silly. Actually traveling to Asia would mean that he would get superior quality sushi. The fact that he is picking it up from his local shopping mall is the EXACT reason why it IS dodgy. :deal Why? Because your shopping mall isn't selling enough or at high enough price to secure quality fish! It is probably selling you whatever it can pass off as whatever it can pass it off as.

Are you kidding? Has the human body changed from the 50's? NO! The human body is the same human body from over 10k years ago! So nutritional truth is universal.

You think the Mediterraneans are "studying"? How about the Japanese? No. They just eat what they ate. So you keep believing all the Western fluff about "nutrition science" while the farm lobbies and food processors keep paying for studies that say what they want you to hear. Quantity plays a part, but it still doesn't address the poor quality of the actual animals and plants that make up the diet.

No I am not. They ate the foods that "nutrition science" told us we shouldn't eat. Now "nutrition science" is telling us to eat them. You don't know this because you haven't been following western nutrition science nor have you ever looked into the history of it. Your diet doesn't need to be varied. What animal on the planet DOESN'T eat the same thing CONSTANTLY? More brainwashing by your "nutrition science".

Life expectancy is increasing due to lower infant mortality and infectious disease control. That has nothing to do with the strength and vitality of said people.

My side is satisfied. I sent you links, so I read. Obviously you didn't read anything I provided. You seem to be the one in need of education and a better understanding of what sushi is.

Wow... So much irrelevance here and so many obvious flaws in your patterns of thinking that I don't know where to start.. I won't even bother, go chew on some grass for the rest of your life since you share the same physiology and digestive system as an animal apparently. Seriously though, try and read a bit about nutrition science, you might see that they're not out to get you.
