As we've seen, Susie has a technique most guys would be proud of, and I'm sure that's in no small part due to the input of the Brizzis.

Susie Q has two FULL pages in the Melbourne Herald Sun this morning.

Can't remember the last fighter that got 2 full pages dedicated to them in the Sun - certainly never, ever a female fighter.

Had the privilege of training with Susie for a fair while. Was dedicated to training, incredibly fit and had an ability to put punches together like few other people (male or female) that I've seen. She is a very talented fighter, a lovely person and I wish her all the best.

Girlie girl Susie Q Ramadan on queue for first female boxing title

by Holly Ife - Herald Sun - Feb 19th 2011

SUSIE Q Ramadan is set to deliver history a knockout blow by becoming the first Australian woman to fight in a world title bout.
If she defeats American Terri Lynn Cruz in this weekend's IBF bout, the 31-year-old bantamweight from Reservoir will have the chance to crack the US and European markets.

It's a far cry from the teen who left school halfway through year 12 and started work to support her family.

"I'm still trying to get on that path that is going to take me where I want to go," she said yesterday.

Ramadan started boxing four years ago, hoping to improve her fitness.

"I've always enjoyed watching boxing but I'm a girlie girl so I never really imagined I'd get in there and fight," she said.

But she loved both the discipline and mental challenge of the sport.

    ...interesting 'aqua-training' there too.

Good luck to Susie and the Brizzi bros. I have seen a few of Susie's fights and she is a great rep for womens boxing.

There's little doubt in my mind she'll end up our best female fighter, and that's no disrespect to Erin and a few girls that have already achieved plenty before these two.

Susie Q Ramadan becomes our first female boxing world champion

by David Griffin - Herald Sun - Feb 21st 2011

MELBOURNE'S Susie Ramadan created history yesterday when she won the International Boxing Federation bantamweight title.

Ramadan scored a runaway unanimous decision over American Terri Lyn Cruz at the Reggio Calibria Club in Brunswick.

Ramadan, 31, dominated her taller rival, winning by a clear margin of 99-91 on all three judges' scorecards.

She became the first Australian woman to win a professional world boxing title.

Enjoying the afterglow of her win, Ramadan said she was both relieved and shocked to have won the title.

"It's an amazing feeling and I am actually lost for words," she said.

"It's so overwhelming, I have worked hard for this and I am going to enjoy it."

Displaying a level of skill and toughness indicative of a world champion, the plucky boxer, who has an unbeaten record of 20 straight wins, conceded that she hoped this was the start of bigger things.

"I am really happy and I want to use this as a springboard for more opportunities, which might even be overseas," she said.

Her trainer, Ben Brizzi, was emotional and excited about her future.

"Susie's done a fantastic job. She works hard and fully deserves her win," Brizzi said.

Ramadan won in a division made famous by Jeff Fenech in the mid 1980s.

Former IBF super featherweight champion Barry Michael described her victory as a significant moment in Australian boxing.
