Have any of you noticed fights where the accumulated damage sustained by a fighter seemed disproportionate compared to the amount of hard, clean punches he absorbed?

Cotto-Margarito I is the first example that comes to mind. A far more controversial pick would be Chavez - Taylor.

Not sure how controversial Chavez-Taylor is. Although Taylor outlanded Chavez, Julio still landed 250 punches or so on Meldrick. (That is twice as many as Floyd landed on Manny). If you let somebody as heavy handed and accurate as Chavez land 250 punches on you, you are going to be in deep trouble.

I don't know. Taylor really didn't take all that many hard, flush shots to the face for most of the fight and suddenly seemed like a very, very battered man some time around round 9/10, if I recall correctly.

(For the record, I'm not accusing anybody of anything; just commenting on how the fights looked to me when I watched them)

Kovalev vs Muhammadi. That jab look hard but not enough to break a nose
