ok since the Sven Ottke seems to all of a sudden become a hot topic again:lol:, was wondering how you guys reckon how he in his prime'd do against todays trio of German middleweights...especially Arthur Abraham

Ottke was a runner, a very mobile counterboxer who ran circles around his opponents.
He was certainly no fun to watch, and I truly disliked him and his style, but I have to admit that he would have had a good chance to upset Abraham due to his style. Abraham has never been fond of mobile opponents as could be seen against Garner and Ayala. And lets be honest Ottke was not playing in Ayala ' s or Garner's leguage. Therefore Ottke in his prime would have had a good chance against Abraham IMO.
Styles make fights. Thats why I would picked Sturm to beat Ottke, but I will surely bet my money on Abraham against STurm.Thats for sure!

Sven Ottke is on a whole different level than these... the closest fight would be vs. Abraham and Sven would still win an UD... all the 3 boxers mentioned are pretty much basic German-style fighters, and you won't find a better one in that category than Ottke...

But opening a thread on ESB where people's 98% think Ottke=BUM is useless if you're looking for objective opinions.

I never thought I'd say this about Sven Ottke, but I think he beats all them

He is poison for King Arthur. Arthur looked bad chasing Ayala around the ring, nevermind a gold medal track star like Ottke. Arthur has shown his susceptibility to elusive fighters, and counterpunchers, even at the journeyman level. Ottke outpoints him as long as he avoids that uppercut, which I believe he would, one thing Ottke had is good defence

Sturm/Sylvester would most likely be boring tactical fights, Ottke's speciality. I don't see them causing Ottke any stylistic problems
