There's a lot of mythologising about this guy, but as the title says how many were genuine robberies and how many were just close calls?
You´re just mad at me, because I don´t wanna chat with you c2c via MSN, don´t be angry with me, but I prefer women... :smooch
Well we all know that.:smoke He was so quick he seemed to be able to land punches without anyone seeing them. Except the judges of course.
Fighters knew what was needed to beat Ottke in Germany, and no one was ever successful. Sure it does not totally justify a couple of the decisions, but the Reid's of this world got good money fighting Ottke and knew the score. Ottke was not to my taste, but he was (for whatever reason) good entertainment for German's. Boxing needs sometimes to manipulate situations to make sure the money fighter wins, ask Peter Buckley... Buckley has lost 246 times; I reckon a 100 or so of them are by a round; 70 probably were pick'em, which means Buckley should of had at least an extra 35 wins, of them 35, I reckon probably half were out and out robberies, that is 17/18 terrible decisions against him... But remember if a ref has scored the fight even going into the last round; who is going to win that final round when the ref see's a 10-0 prospect with 200 fans who are helping to pay the refs wages, or the 30-200 veteran who is there to teach the prospect a lesson or two, but lose?
