Jones Jr.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ottke. That being said Ottke is responsible for one of my favorite KO's in the last 15 years. [YT]VxC_MZc7Kyg[/YT]
I agree. People who claim Ottke was featherfisted haven't seen the brutal KO of Anthony 'the Man' Mundine. German paramedics offered to carry him out on a stretcher but Mundine refused. Imagine Ottke landing this monster punch on RJJ's chin
Don't forget that Ottke also fought these guys in the amateurs Michael Moorer - WBO LHW champion, WBA, IBF, WBO HW champ Henry Maske - Olympic gold medalist, world amateur gold medalist, European gold medalist x 3, long reigning IBF LHW champ Ariel Hernandez - 2 x Olympic gold medalist, world amateur gold medalist x 2 & 1 x silver Alexander Lebziak - Olympic gold medalist, world amateur gold & silver medalist, European gold medalist x 2, silver x 1, bronze x 2 Chris Byrd - Olympic silver medalist, WBO & IBF HW champion Zsolt Erdei - world amateur gold medalist, Olympic bronze medalist, European gold medalist x 2 & silver x 1, long reigning WBO LHW champ, WBC CW champ Torsten May - Olympic gold medalist, world amateur gold medalist Vassiliy Jirov - Olympic gold medalist, 2 x world amateur bronze medalist, IBF CW champion Juan Carlos Gomez - long reigning WBC CW champ, world junior champion as an amateur Antonio Tarver - world amateur gold medalist, Olympic bronze, WBC, IBF, WBA LHW champ Sinan Samil Sam - world amateur gold and bronze medalist, European bronze and silver medalist, world junior gold medalist, European HW champion Ramon Garbey - world amateur gold & medalist medalist Torsten Schmitz - world amateur silver medalist 2 x bronze, European silver medalist Ottke fought some of them 2, 3, or 4 or more times too. Roy would've been knocked spark unconscious by half of those guys and got his little ears boxed off by a few more had he dared go anywhere near them. The only one he did face out of them was Tarver and he got KTFO. Roy was knocked out by a pity pat punching Irishman in the amateurs that no one had ever heard of.
bailey, I'm not talking about the history of the divisions, I'm talking about the history of the belts. The WBC and WBA belts were obviously more appealing to a fighter than the WBO belt back in the day. I'm not disputing Joe's reign or the quality of the fights. I'm just noting that the belt wasn't highly regarded back then. Yes, it's now getting ridiculous. It makes me so angry. Like you've mentioned, across all of the organisations, we have interim, super, silver and regular champs etc. It's an absolute joke. I never thought we'd see this. How many titles are now available in the SMW division? Again, it was just an example. You were watching back then, you know that the WBO was lightly regarded. I'm not debating whether or not that was fair, I'm just noting that that's how things were. :good
Answer me this RJJ apologists: What if feather-fisted Ottke landed his best punch on Roy's chin. What would happen
Updated Don't forget that Ottke also fought these guys in the amateurs Michael Moorer - WBO LHW champion, WBA, IBF, WBO HW champ Henry Maske - Olympic gold medalist, world amateur gold medalist, European gold medalist x 3, long reigning IBF LHW champ Ariel Hernandez - 2 x Olympic gold medalist, world amateur gold medalist x 2 & 1 x silver Alexander Lebziak - Olympic gold medalist, world amateur gold & silver medalist, European gold medalist x 2, silver x 1, bronze x 2 Chris Byrd - Olympic silver medalist, WBO & IBF HW champion Zsolt Erdei - world amateur gold medalist, Olympic bronze medalist, European gold medalist x 2 & silver x 1, long reigning WBO LHW champ, WBC CW champ Torsten May - Olympic gold medalist, world amateur gold medalist Vassiliy Jirov - Olympic gold medalist, 2 x world amateur bronze medalist, IBF CW champion Juan Carlos Gomez - long reigning WBC CW champ, world junior champion as an amateur Antonio Tarver - world amateur gold medalist, Olympic bronze, WBC, IBF, WBA LHW champ Angel Espinosa - world amateur gold and silver medalist Sinan Samil Sam - world amateur gold and bronze medalist, European bronze and silver medalist, world junior gold medalist, European HW champion Andrey Kurniavka - world amateur gold and silver medalist, European bronze medalist Ramon Garbey - world amateur gold & bronze medalist Torsten Schmitz - world amateur silver medalist 2 x bronze, European silver medalist Egerton Marcus - Olympic silver medalist Thomas Ulrich - Olympic bronze medalist, world amateur bronze medalist, world junior silver medalist, European LHW champ Rostislav Zaulichnyy - world amateur bronze medalist, 2 x European bronze medalist, gold medalist at the world cup Chris Johnson - Olympic bronze medalist, world amateur bronze medalist Henryk Petrich - Olympic bronze medalist Rhoshii Wells - Olympic bronze medalist Jean-Paul Mendy - world amateur bronze medalist, 2 x European bronze Fought Moorer x 2 Ariel Hernandez x 4 Lebziak x 4 Maske x 2 (think it was even more times than that) Tarver x 2 Torsten May x 2 Tortsen Schmitz x 2 Garbey x 2 Mendy x 2 Chris Johnson x 3 He probably fought some of those guys even more than that, they're just the results I could find. And he fought a load more quality amateurs too, national champions, champions of their continent, gold, silver, bronze medalists in various prestigious international tournaments etc.
He lost to quite a few of them but he also beat a lot of those guys or split results with them. I'm not even a fan of his but, yes, he certainly fought a hell of a lot of excellent fighters and very highly decorated amateurs. A ridiculous amount of Olympic gold medalists and world amateur champions :good
:rofl I've been considering doing a thread on him for awhile entitled Sven Ottke: The Phantom Of The Spandau Ballet.:yep
That's a good title. I don't know if you saw my post in your Shabranskyy thread earlier but I uploaded Rosado vs Clottey onto Dailymotion. Make sure to switch to 480p as it plays automatically at 380p.
It is an impressive resume but Roy's resume ametuer wise was not as stellar as say Otteke or some other lesser fighters ..
