He was a hero in my house for the Mundine KO. We had a picture of Mundine flat on his back with a quote he made before the fight about how Otke hits like a chicken or something. Good times. The Reid fight was a disgrace.
ottke was a boring/dirty fighter /he was also very saftey first. but at the same time he was talented and new how to box. there is a fight on his leger that is relevent today. ottke made easy work of glen johnson. without looking it up , i beleive the scorecards were something like 115-113 but that was deceiving. ottke built a lead ,new he was in front and nothing but a ko would see him lose and coasted the last rounds on his bike, making the fight closer on the scorecards than it needed to be. ottke handled johnson way way easier than dawson /tarver did . as to the title of the thread IMO ottke lost the brewer 1 fight . the reid fight . that was it. i had him beating brewer 2 fight very easily. tate he won johnson he won starrie he won larson was very close but i gave him the nod in a fight with the lowest punch count of all time over 12 rounds i would guess by some considerable way. and i have watched all german boxing since rene weller was shown way back
You indeed did response. I do not know Sidorenko as he is not a big name in Germany. Is he managed by Kohl or Sauerland? If he is, that would surprise me.Îf he really is, you did prove me wong but there are not so many interests involved if the fighter is not well recognized and marketable.
It seems that we can't agree on this subject: - I maintain my claim that German boxing is worse than the States. You provided me with some nice examples but I will give you a counterexample: Calzaghe from the UK recently won a close verdict over a BIG NAME in Hopkins. I think this is much more common in the US. - I defintiely thought that Brewer and Mitchell deserved the nod. The second Brewer fight could have gone either way.It is my opinion, I know you think differently. I just think that a fighter getting so many close verdicts is suspect especially when you take into account that corruption is widespread in Germany. - Between rounds, Ottke received information. I will prove it to you. Ottke receives the information in close fights if he is behind or not. It is impossible for a corner to know exactly if they are behind or not in a CLOSE FIGHT. Example he Mitchell fight: They told him that he had the fight won and that he just have to run. That was a CLOSE FIGHT. In various other fights they infom Ottke in the mid rounds in a CLOSE FIGHT if he is behind or not. Impossible to know if you do not hace access to the scorecards. - We now know that they have access to the scorecards. If you take it one step further, those judges might also have been biased.
Tell me who was the last time a fighter was robbed in Germany. Your oppinion. Which is useless because of your bias. Boxer all over the world are told in fights if they are winning or losing, if they need to do more or run. while I think you are right there is no prove for it. Prove?
I hope Sven Ottke if he can read english has read all this. That would hit home to him what a fraud he was.
Outsiders getting decisions in Germany over german fighters; Eubank-Rocchigiani Schulz-Botha (Axel robbed!) Moorer-Schulz Akinwande-Schulz 2 (Fight 1 was a draw. Gift draw for Schulz?) Hill-Maske Rocchigiani-Thompson Nelson-Petkovic Beyer-Sanavia Vidoz-Hoffman Harris-Urkal Erdei-Ulrich Garay-Braehmer Outsiders getting robbed in Germany vs german fighters; Brewer-Ottke 1 Ottke-Reid (referees behaviour was worse than scoring) Ottke-Tate 1 (should've been a tko win for Tate) Nunn-Rocchigiani - debatable Lucas-Beyer Outsiders being shafted against the house fighter in Germany; Ruiz-Valuev 1 Valuev-Donald Erdei-Garay 1 & 2 I've read DM-Girad 1 & Barber-DM were controversial but haven't seen them. I'm sure there's countless fights at the lower weights that can be listed.
