Havinf 300 fights that he lost close or that could have gone either way but they never went anything but Ottke's way that's why.
Plus he was a boring clown with no power. The world is a beter place with out him and I'm glad his wife left him and has him in finnacial troubles.
Too bad the Michalczewsky fight didn't come off so I could see Dariusz own his corrupt jester of the court ass.

    Socrates -

If Eubank was still such a big name, then why did this fight take place 2 levels down on a Naz undercard ?

And didnt eubank shed over a stone in 10 days to take it ?

The Naz fight was being shown in the States so Calzaghe-Eubank was chief support in the regular prime slot for UK viewers.

    Just stating the facts.

DId Ottke **** your girlfriend or how so much hate. It is not unusual, that close fights in the champs backyard go to the champ. But that is nothing that happened only in Ottke fights.

To be happy about the fakt that he has lost his wife and is in financial trouble dosen´t say much positive about your personality.... :-(

If Ottke would have just looked at her I would have left her for she was a lost cause already.
Yes,I have an enourmous amount of hate for that clown(you could say infinite),probably the most hate for all the other fighters combined as I don't hate anybody else.
Hopefully his health will start to leave him soon enough(and Roger Tilleman's for that matter) and he losses that job he has as soon.
As a final thought I'd like to say ''**** Ottke''.:good

No comparrison..... Calzaghe was the much better fighter. Reid was robbed against Ottke, but Calzaghe deserved SD win in my opinion (even with a broken hand and the flu) Brewer and Mitchell was also robbed against Ottke..... guys Calzaghe destroyed!

Ottke only had the IBF and WBA title.... not the WBC title. Calzaghe had all 4, including the Ring magazine belt. Kessler would of destroyed Ottke, as would Hopkins.... guys Calzaghe beat.

Ottke knew not to go near Calzaghe! To his credit he was a smart guy who made the most of what he had..... but was NO warrior..... unlike Calzaghe!

Calzaghe would of smashed this guy early, Ottke wouldn't of withstood a Calzaghe flurry. If it happened in Germany they'd get the ref to dq Joe for hitting him in the face too many times!

Guys like Scurla are using the opposition logic too much, it's clear tha Calzaghe is leagues above him and would of destroyed him regardless.

Too many guys saying Hopkins is past it but make him out to be still some elite boxer and were saying he would of beaten Joe when he beat the overrated Tarver and Winky. Guys like Scurla were rating Pavlik as a good opponent for Joe and Hopkins exposed him too like i thought! Calzaghe would smash Pavlik.

Every few months we get the "Ottke sucks" thread and everybody says what a robbery the Reid fight was and that Calzaghe would **** him.

The Reid fight was a sham, granted, but don't discount the rest of Ottke's career and ability based on that. The fact is that Ottke was a master defensive fighter who's forte was making punchers look silly. He did this numerous times in his career. Some of his decisions were razor thin, but few were truly controversial. I won't list them, since that's been done before time and time again.

Now, Calzaghe was a great fighter, too. If you put them head-to-head I think Calzaghe wins only because he had the aggressive style to get to the pure mover/counterpuncher, Ottke, but to just say "Ottke sucked" essentially proves that anyone willing to make that statement just shows that a. they've never really watched Ottke fight or b. they don't know boxing.

Comparing Ottke with Calzaghe is like comparing two oranges (apples if you'd prefer). Just one was grown 1,000 kilometers from the other.

But, too be fair, I rank Joe at least a few to several paces (fighters) ahead of Sven (and rank both somewhere between 150 -200 all-time primarily BECAUSE of their records) - though Sven did fight Brewer 3 1/2 years BEFORE Joe, FOUGHT Glen Johnson (and Joe couldn't raise the nerve) and even Thomas Tate twice, fought the great Tocker Pudwill 2 1/2 years BEFORE Joe decided to risk it all against Tocker, and met Byron Mitchell 3 months BEFORE Joe (who was shook to his boots, landed a home run shot, and benefited from a predisposed ref's quick hook on a stumbling Mitchell with only fifteen seconds to go).

In Joe's defense, he did fight both Rick Thornberry and David Starie 2 1/2 years BEFORE Ottke, and Robin Reid almost 5 years BEFORE Ottke.

All told, not all that dissimilar. Surely Ottke could have landed some worn ATG and found a way to a split decision to embellish his record further.

    Calzaghe's career (1993-2008)
    Ottke's career (1997-2004)

Calzaghe 46-0 (TKOs/KOs = 0) (Sheika ref stoppage on a cut -- bull****, Mitchell ref stoppage on fear for Frank's /Joe's safety after first career knockdown)

    Ottke 34-0 (TKOs/KOs = 1 - Mundine)

    SUPERMIDDLEWEIGHT reign

Calzaghe 21 defenses of the WBO over 10 1/2 years
Calzaghe 0 defenses of the IBF over six months

Ottke 21 defenses of the IBF over 5 1/2 years
Ottke 2 defenses of the WBA over 1 year

    Joe on rounds 7-5.

Not much to quibble about, Joe was slightly more talented, Ottke was slightly braver, Ottke and Calzaghe both needed and benefited from predisposed refs, careful matchmaking, leaning judges, and ideal environments. Joe finished his career stronger. When you get down to it they were both decent fighters while neither was extraordinary or amazing. They had perfect records but struggled in 95% of their fights (excluding the early bums, fat guys, and old men) and looked somewhat mediocre in dozens of fights. Way overrated unless you favor their demographics over reality/honesty.
