I know the Robin Reid fight was ridiculous, but I don't know which other fights were considered robberies. Anyone who has seen a lot of Ottke's fights, please tell us which ones you thought were robberies.
Not as many as what people think. The Reid fight was actually pretty close, though it must be said it was mainly close because Robin resigned himself to being disqualified if he continued dominating. He beat Johnson and Mitchell for me. It's quite cool on forums to hate on him, and there are plenty of reasons to do so - fighting in Germany all the time, didn't look to make a fight with Calzaghe/Kessler etc, but it's unfair to accuse him of having seven or eight ''robberies''. Two or three perhaps, but he was a pretty good fighter, hard to hit cleanly and pretty clever, though the likes of Calzaghe, Kessler, Froch etc would thrash him.
Reid was the only flat out robbery, but about 6 others were debatable, close decisions that easily could have gone the other way.
None of them were robberies (Reid wasn't a robbery on the scorecards, but the refereeing was ridiculous to the point where Ottke questioned what was happening). I can understand why people think Brewer won their first fight, but I wouldn't call it a robbery. Anyone that mentions the Johnson fight has never seen it. It was the clearest 7-5 you will ever see.
I dont know man.. Calzaghe didnt rely on home town decisions... Zaghe also cleaned out the division and won the linear championship in two weight divisions...
I have to agree with Beeston Brawler in that Reid did resign himself a bit and didnt step it up. Saying that Reid was warned for landing a punch and did deserve the victory. To me that was the only real robbery, but you could have made an arguement for Brewer, Mitchell and Larsen, though I seem to remember thinking Ottke had beaten Brewer both times (hard to remember now, the two fights seemed to have blended). Ottke did outbox and beat Johnson. Ottke has a very good resume was very hard to beat, didnt get caught cleanly often. Its funny how Ottke gets so much critism for fighting out of Germany but Ward gets far less for staying in America where he has been allowed to use many illegal tactics. Where people say it was hard to win rounds against Ottke, consider how 2 judges scored Ward / Bika 120-108 fighting at home
Brewer beat him, Reid Beat him, Johnson beat him and i think you can make a case for mitchell but ive only seen parts to that fight so i cant really say. The mundine fight was unbelievable though, and people say the Prescott KO was bad
