say what you want about ottke but he was well promoted and a superstar in his own country. despite the fact that people will turn around and say but no one ever saw him. ottke got 10 million german tv viewers a fight and he fought on average 4 fights per year. so ottke got 40,000,000 tv audience a year. that is huge numbers by todays standards. its the equivelent of 40 mayweather v hatton fights in terms of exposure to an american market.
People talk about Byrd having no power. They talk about Ruiz being the most boring fighter ever and getting gift decisions. They should take a look a Ottke. I am glad Calzaghe ignored him.
Rahman Ruiz looked like Hagler Hearns (only better) compared to a Sven Ottke fight. Lewis Holyfield 1 looked like a prudent decision compared to some of the gifts Ottke received. Even if somebody knocked him out Ottke would still be given the decision.
Oh come on we all know if Ottke got anywhere near being KO'd the ref would intervene and disqualify his opponent for having the audacity to hit Sven (My wife beat the **** out of me) Ottke.
