One of the greatest.....ever :deal :nut :nut :nut :nut Any views on how corrupt his fights were?? i'm not talking IF they were, i'm talking HOW corrupt.....
I watched the Robin Reid fight a few months ago and I could not stop laughing at what a farce it was. Every time Reid landed a punch Ottke would look at the referee for help. It was so corrupt it was laughable.
Just ONE corrupt fight, and a few who could have gone either way. ODH hat more corrupt fights, so what...
One ref was corrupt, vs Reid. Another time the officials ignored the rule on cuts stoppages vs Tate, who should've been awarded a tko. Nothing outside that.
He was a really good boxer - he took more from the amateurs to the pros than most others do. However he was rather boring to watch (because he would not get hit, and he himself could not really bang back). I agree with the above posters: nothing too bad on the corruptness-side of his career.
i remember him against the dane rudy markussen and mads larsen both fighters was at that time with mogens palle...and both guys fought ottke i germany. And was robbed....but the whole world knows,if you fight a championship fight in germany against a german fighter.you better knock him out to be sure....and that´s sad.
Hes a wierd figure he had plenty of talent , no pop though its not so much he was protected ( the farcical Reid fight aside ) but you can be damn sure he won every close round he ever fought !
I think he was a decent boxer and is slightly underrated IMO. - the Reid fight was a complete joke, I've never seen such a clearly corrupt ref!
He was actually quite a good boxer, but painfully boring to watch. Had he been judged in the way that fights are being scored in the US these days he would have been a gatekeeper. If that.
Underrated. The number of supposed "robberies" is highly overestimated. Reid was a geunine robbery, the rest were really close and he got the benefit of fighting at home each time.
