Basic head movement can make anyone miss. Thats wy its effective. That being said, you picked a very poor thing to criticise Floyd over! Haton's head movement worked only a few times, the majority of the time Hatton got hit with a left hook coming in, or it was just completely ineffective and Floyd nailed him with a straight right.

And as for Mayweather and Whitaker, whats with all this 'Floyd does this, not that", "Whitaekr does this, not that!"

BOTH Floyd AND Whitaker got up on their toes and moved when they needed to, BOTH Floyd AND Whitaker fought in the pocket when they could. ETC, ETC, and just one more ETC for good measure.

Personally I dont see how you can say obectively how one or the oter would fair aganst te other. At first I thought it was clearly a Floyd decision, then I thought maybe Pea could edge it. But after doing more thinking, I've come to the conclusion that its really just impossible to figure out who would come out on top. They're both so incredibly talented, that it would come down to very advanced boxing, subtle things. Who sets the better traps, whose reflexes are just a tiny bit better, etc etc.

The bigger questions I think are just impossile to answer! Stuff like... which defense works better? Floyd's old school use of the shoulder, slipping and rolling, or Pea's unorthodox upper body movement, just reacting to, and dodging punches?

You might be able to decide that Floyd's defense is better on the long run, since its not entirely dependent on super human reflexes, but then who is better at executing their style??

I don't think we'll ever have a good answer to "who would win"!

Floyd may be stronger at 135, but let's be real: physical strength wouldn't mean much for Floyd in this fight because he doesn't fight in a way that imposes his strength on opponents.

And if Floyd tried to pressure Whitaker and use the strength advantage you believe he has to bully/rough Pernell up, he would get picked apart. Pernell thrived against pressure fighters.

I don't believe Floyd could outbox him either due to Pernell's jab, ability to maintain his distance, and punch output.

Whitaker had a better jab than Mayweather. No question about it either. Any poster with a good knowledge of both fighters will say so.

    :good

I've analyzed this fight too much to make a long-winded post, but if someone who thinks Mayweather would win would like to argue it with me, let's do it.

Since you're sporting the Sweet Pea moniker:

Of the current fighters in the welterweight division, who do you think poses the biggest challenge to Pea during his best days at 147?

    Yeah, I can see that.

I wonder how good Williams will actually prove to be in the coming years. He represents a stylistic nightmare for anyone in the welterweight division. His size, work rate, and southpaw stance are something else!

Agreed, Pea was great at WW as well, but was a true master at LW, where he beats anyone to ever box there in my opinion, despite the tough opposition.
