Most of the guys in our gyms wear jumpers and sweat tops and wooly hats. SOme wear sweat suits. A guy told me you shouldnt wear sweat suits because you lose loads of nutrients through all thqat sweating. Is he right? and what do you wear while training? Thanks
Wearing a sweat suit while training is ridiculous. The only time one would need to ever wear one is if they need to lose weight in a hurry. (Like sureing the two hour window during weigh ins) All they do is dehydrate you. If you're working hard, you'll sweat enough without all that crap. I just wear shorts and a T-shirt.
When I'm training I always have lots of clothes on me. It doesn't get especially warm in our gym, and I think it's good to sweat a little extra. But whenever I'm on a training camp I only wear t-shirt and shorts. About a year ago I used the sweat suit a lot when training before a fight. I had to lose much weight, so I used it every day the last week before the fight. But it really isn't healthy. If you have to lose that much weight, the best thing is to just move up one class. I've done that now.
I'm not physiologist by any means, but the rationale that I've been told by people who wear hoodies and such is that it helps burn body fat. I have absolutely no idea if this is true, so don't flame me. I'm just a messenger and I only wear a hoody in the gym if I'm cold, which is often because I'm a big *****.
You can lose a lots of electrolytes through your sweat. Drinking diaroltye or something similar after a heavy session will quickly replenish them.
Exactly. We have a guy in our gym that loses weight this way every time. And every time he gasses out in the 3rd or 4th round. He's flat and tired and it shows.
Yeah, I know. It was fine for one match, but if I were having a fight the next day, I was pretty exhausted. I should have moved up one class much earlier.
The problem about sauna suite during normal training is that it drains your energy fast. You cannot possibly have the same output as someone the same size without the sauna suite.
I read a study a while back regarding dehydration, that it reduces your strength by approximately 10%. I've also been told of a study that indicated that fighting dehydrated increases the chances of brain injury in boxing.
