Vitlai is much harder to out box. Ingo was small, lacked range, was not overly quick with his feet, and as you said lacked a good left and pawed with his jab. Aside from being one of the weaker lineal champions, Ingo only had 26 fights.

I don't have the score cards on some of his longer matches London or Erskine but i Tend to beleive these guys won a few rounds. If is plausible that Ingo was behind in his DQ in 5 win over Pellegrini since Ingo was knocked down in that fight.

Vitlai has not lost more than two rounds vs any fighter, nor has he been behind on the score cards after three rounds.

I saw the Hoff match. It was Hoff's last fight and a mis-match. Ingo drills him.

Well, you are correct in the other thread that it is very difficult to outbox a man who is much bigger. Ingo was not bigger than most of his opponents, but I don't agree with your point. Vitali being a better boxer than Ingo does not prove Ingo was a mediocre boxer. You are, after all, arguing on another thread, and not illogically, that Vitali might be able to outbox almost everyone.

My point is that Ingo shows good movement on film to my eyes and quite a bit of defensive skill, both in movement, plus ducking and blocking punches. He does not seem to have taken much punishment in most of his fights. Vitali was cut up more in some fights than Ingo ever was. I think, though, that Ingo had a weak jaw for a champion.

If Ingo could outbox fighters of his own era, he was a good boxer in my judgement, whatever his lack of size versus men of generations later.
