He wasnt though, did you see both of his fights with buddy Mcgirt? Beautiful display of agressiveness and skill. I always thought Pea blended defensive skill and come forward agression seemlessly. I rewatched almost his whole career a few days ago and he was an exciting fighter to me, who could work inside just as well as outside and was never afraid of a tear up. Particularly when he moved up from lightweight, he could often boss bigger, stronger men around on the inside. One of my favourite fighters by far, and a must see for every fan of the sweet science.
The guy is a legend and, imo, the greatest fighter since duran. What pea could do in the ring is unreal and he had the technical fundamentals to compliment his athletic abilities. He fought the best around for a decade and he made them all look foolish. I wish he'd have fought quartey and tito in 96 but I guess that'd have been too perfect a career then.
For anyone thats a fan of great technical skill you've got to see the first Buddy Mcgirt fight.Mcgirt showed great boxing skill here to. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SEIDojjk_w[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B257dzKamE&feature=related[/ame]
