I pretty much agree, but you can't count Alexis out in a 15 rounder. That's why I said a TKO inside 12 would surprise me, but not over 15. I think Mancinni put it perfectly. He said Arguello fought like a master thief picking a lock. He just kept working away until he found that just right combination. Over 15 rounds, he mind find it, but like I said, the smart money would be on a Whitaker UD.

Whitaker wide wide wide UD, maybe a shut out. Worst match up out there for Arguello

Nobody ever shut out or come close to shutting out Arguello. I agree this is clearly Whitaker and a terrible matchup for Arguello but you underrate him.

Yes but he hasnt fought anyone remotely as good at practising 'hit without getting hit' as Whitaker. Obviously this is completely different to say Pryor who was there to exchange to an extent.

Whitaker is the sort of fighter who can go a fight against top opp without taking anything while continually getting his own shots off. His defense and movement is too good for Arguello to get any rythm or any serious shots off. The southpaw jab alone will control the action. I'd drop to 10-5 at worst case scenario for Pea but if he continually beats Arguello to the punch and Arguello can't get his shots off in return a shutout could be on the cards.

    Under rate is an understatement:deal

It's a bad style match up for Alexis, but his known problems with speed and movement are often exagerated.

It wouldn't be a shut-out, but Whitaker would handily out-box him with his jab, elusiveness, and footwork. It's possible though that the right hand of Arguello's could sneak it's way in a few times, hurting or dropping Pea.

Along the same lines as my initial post on the match.

All-time great avatar. Best Ray Leonard one I've seen.

Easy win for Sweet Pea. Alexis is too slow to keep up with him.

Arguello was great in the latter rounds but would have given away too many rounds early on, I'd definitely go with Whitaker over 12. 15 would be a little closer but I'd still pick Sweet Pea by UD.

powerpuncher still dissing Arguello. I'd pick Pea over 12 or 15, his chin was too good, too elusive. Arguello was never terrible with boxers, just had trouble with them. not every fighter cn adapt to every style perfectly. still one of the goat.
