He didn't really stand toe to toe because Chavez was backing up and on the run in the 7th and 8th rounds while Pea pounded on him, so it was hard for Pea to trade with someone using those tactics.
Whats offense? come on now. what is "is"? Look, all Im saying is he lacked in the offense category especially when he faced punchers like DLH and Chavez. I remember seeing an early Zab fight when they used to call him "Pernell with a punch" (I know its absurd but follow me) - when Zab would get on his bicycle and stop throwing meaningful punches, the announcers said "Hes showing us a little too much Pernell right now". Obviously referring to his ebbing offense, everyone knew what they were talking about.
I am following. I get what your saying, although I'm not agreeing 100%. Who did you score the DLH and Chavez fights for? If he had NO offense, his defense must be EVEN better than I thought. Cause he won those 2 fights (to more than 50%) WITHOUT any offense?
Pea owned Chavez, that's all this debate really comes down to. Ramshall is still butt-hurt about it, so let him keep deluding himself into thinking his hero got anything accomplished other than stumbling around the ring and getting pieced up by the superior boxer.
I rank his D as the best Ive ever seen, probably the best of all time. I can see scoring the match for Pea on points, certainly a reasonable view. . . but we got this clown suggesting that Pea stood toe to toe with him and put a "beating" on Chavez, thats just pathetically stupid.
We've got a guy here who goes in detail time and time again about how that fight was a draw. Then again, I almost always have strong disagreement with his scorecards on close/controversial fights.
You're talking about Divac. If you asked him what 1+1 was he'd give you a five page essay and tell you 3. Very annoying, but at least he attempts to back his nonsense up.
I remember someone saying on legendary nights of Meldrick-Chavez that Meldrick could have backed down when he was up on points and ran from him but he would not give CHavez the satisfaction of running from him - well Chavez got that satisfaction for pretty much 12 rounds, cause Pea ran from him.
I'm sorry, but I'm failing to realise where the satisfaction is in getting your ass whooped for the majority of rounds? Ramshall This content is protected
It's pretty funny, if the forum wasen't losing members by the day you would of been banned months ago.
