How do we know? Don't think he's had a great canvas to work on. I don't remember any ATGs going to him. This could be a perfect partnership if he can tighten Zabs technical flaws up. He knows what it takes to succeed with that style
i think it's too little, too late though. two of zab's biggest enemies are discipline and maturity. hell! his old man is like a spoilt kid half the time so it's not surprising he grew up not knowing what good things can come from humility when he was growing up either.
skills and talent arent the same thing, that being said, I agree that he does have a decent skillset when he chooses to use them, and like you said, he is also one of the more gifted fighters of recent times in the talent department. As for the news, I am a Judah fan and am rooting for him to reach the top of 140 but this isnt exactly good news, yet. I will wait to see how they mesh and how it all unfolds before Im happy about this. Interesting though. I wonder if his dad will still be a part of the corner or what.
I actually think Zab has it together more then anyone in his immediate family believe it or not, imo.
has whitaker had success with anyone as a trainer? i know he worked a fight or two recently with Spadafora but they went seperate ways i thought i read
because he has been training fighters for the last 4-5 years and i haven't heard anything about any of them.
I hope it works. Zab just needs to listen and learn. I remember when he was getting pummeled by Clottey, Zab's dad told him to keep his hands up and Zab shook his head and laughed.
:dealAgree Its not like Zab will transform into sweet pea at this point and become a defensive wizard all of the sudden. Confidence wise, its good for Zab.
So he left Eddie Mustafa Muhammad? Zab's a joke, why would he leave EMM? One of the best trainers in the game, period.
Zab is a worthless peice of ****. He is best suited as a gate keeper for the sport. I can't understand for the life of me how he keeps scoring these undeserving big fights. His mental capacity is that of a limp noodle, and you can have all the skill sets in the world. But they are utterly useless when you lack the intelligence and brain power to put behind them. Will the dreamers here please let go of the hope that Zab will ever chicken dance his way on top of this sport. It's not going to happen. And anyone who has any faith in this bum is only setting themselves up for disappointment
Okay, so we take it you're not a fan of Zab. That is perfectly fine. You're not alone. But he's a veteran of the sport, fighting at what could be his best weight (140lb), in a very deep division. He got the name, and sometimes, that's just as important in boxing. Kaizer Mabuza is looking to make a name for himself too, and is definitely a worthy opponent. If boxing fans hate Zab, it should be entertaining to see if he get's worked over by Mabuza.
Plus, like him or hate him, a successful Zab Judah being trained by Pernell Whitaker, is good for boxing- more specifically, boxing on the East Coast.
They actually used to spar each other quite a bit 10 years ago or so. Whittaker has been in and out of his camp over the years. Id say hes probably a decent trainer. He has Dorin Spivey too I think. Not every great fighter is a great trainer. More mediocre fighters seem to be great trainers it seems, but it just depends on the person.
