Some British/irish suggestions-if anyone has them:

    Minter Finnegan trilogy

Conteh vs Ahumada, Finnegan (1), yaqui Lopez, Saad (1).

Herol Graham's decision losses, McCallum especially.

Steve Collins decision losses.Seen lots of posts on forums about him being robbed in all of them.I always thought he lost every one legitimately. It would be interesting to see how the magazines scored them.

A lot of the more controversial Eubank fights would be intersting as well.

Ring Magazine on Lewis Holyfield II: 114-114 Draw. I had Lewis winning by a point. I also had the same result for Holmes Norton as Boxing Weekly. Holmes 144 Norton 141.

Was there an article accompanying the Ortiz-Locche scorecard? Man I'd love to have it. What does 199-192 translate to by modern scoring standards? I'm guessing something like 6 rounds to 3 and 1 even.

I had Curry taking the first Benitez fight by a point. Benitez was very lucky not to lose that fight.

Here's the BI article mate, from July 1966, from Rings Around The World:.*

World lightweight champion Carlos Ortiz was held to a disputed draw in a tet round non-title fight by the Argentine and South American lightweight champion Nicolino Locche at Luna Park, Buneos Aires.

For Locche it was his second draw with a reigning lightweight champion, last summer he boxed a stalemate with Ismael Laguna.

The decision was loudly booed by the fans who felt that Ortiz was entitled to the verdict. The manager of Ortiz, Bill Daly, was quite upset by the decision, but Ortiz made no comment.

Carlos held the upper hand in almost every round, and Locche drew frequent warnings from referee Vincente Avendano for holding and hitting,

Nicolino was also guilty of numerous clinches: nevertheless one judge voted for him and the other, along with the referee, scored the fight even. Our ringside correspondent had Ortiz ahead by seven points: 199-192 under the complicated scoring system used in Argentina.

While Locche's face was puffed and red, Ortiz finished the fight unmarkled. Carlos scaled 139, a pound more than his opponent.

    * It always good finding other 'gems' when you search for a certain mag. Here we have Amos Johnson talking about beating Clay as an amateur and being the only man to floor George Chuvalo (albeit in sparring).

Their heavyweight ratings (dated May 4th 1966) sees Henry Cooper at #4. That's for those who think he wasn't rated at all before his rematch with Clay. :good

ps. I think Boxing News only had Curry marginally ahead too- but they were complaing about the scoring system being outdated and unjust ('rounds' I think it was).

    Here's one....

    Boxing 98

Whitaker - Ramirez, 118-111 or 9-2-1 for Pernell. Campos (official) at 118-113 Ramirez is a little embarrassing

You might not be able to ever get the fights SS, but do you know how controversial McCrory's draw and win over Colin Jones were? Talk about two damn close fights, with many thinking Jones won at least one. Barely a point between the two over 24 rounds. You'd love em!

Another top mob for close scores is Boza, Chacon and co.

Take a look at the second Boza - Chacon fight, lost among all the emotion for the Chacon story is the fact that some respected sources scored it for Boza even tho the official cards are convincing.

Haha, how badly did ol' Newton want to see an all-Mexican unification match between Chavez and Ramirez? About half as bad as Sulaiman did.

Nice. I'm a little bit closer in my own card here than I was in the Ramirez-Rosario fight, but I gave a few more rounds to Starling.

I gave Starling rounds 1,4,5,6,11 and 13. Gave the rest to Curry, with the exception of rounds 3 and 12 which I had even.

I've got a boxing mag lying around here someplace which does a little trip down memory lane with regards to their fights. If I ever do get the fights, I'll be scoring them no worries!

Yeah, Chacon was brave as hell there and how he managed to floor Boza at the death was insane, but there's no question Boza had done enough to take a clear cut decision. Chacon deserved accolades for his courage, but he lost that fight for sure.

    A couple for comparisons SS

    KO

    Hearns - Benitez 144-140 Hearns

Hearns gets 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15 with 4 and 13 even. Bear in mind this includes the round 9 slip by Hearns tagged a KD for Benitez as well as the point deduction in round 4 to make it even.
