Any of you guys swim for endurance?
My girl swims a lot, and she's always on me to give it a try.
Well...the other day I went over to her gym and swam laps.
    Holy ****.
I was huffing and puffing after a few laps, and fat *******s were leaving me in the dust.

old codgers are the kings of the swim! I swim a fair bit and when I stop for a breather they are still going like utter beasts.

Great gravity leveler, being 65% water helps too :D.

I've been jumping in the water a couple of times a week for cardio. I'm still in the experimental phase, so unfortunately, I can't say much about results.
However, you being left behind by more experienced swimmers is nothing unusual. Swimming also requires proper technique to get the best out of your time in the water. With technique, you glide through water with much less resistance or friction to slow you down. So keep technique in mind.
I've only been doing freestyle for maybe up to 40 mins. with moments of rest where I do leg/abs drills. So far, my body does feel more relaxed and lose once I go in the gym. But that's more likely to be because I had not been able to do cardio work for some time.

    Will do.
At this point, I figure that even if my technique isn't good yet, at least having a tough go at it means that I'm getting a decent workout out of it, as evidenced by me being totally out of breath and having to recover in order to do more laps.
I'll keep at it, and hopefully I'll get better at it.

Also great as a breathing excercise. Don't hold your breath, maintain a proper rhythm and momentum going.
