Does anyone prefer to swim instead of run? I find running boring and wondered if anyone finds swimming as a decent enough cardio building replacement.

    Cheers

swimming is great for cardio. but like anything, it is about how you do it, and your goals.

It will never have the same explosive benefit for boxing as something like HIIT land sprints, imo, but certainly is close, and also a hell of a lot easier on your joints.

i find swimming is great, get some fins and you get more of a workout as you can go longer and it actully improves your stoke when first starting out

Swimming is great cardio workout. I always have problems with shins or ligaments so swimming is a good way to work on cardio without the pounding of running. As said already that sprints and HIIT stuff is always best, but just swimming once a week really does work well since if you slow down in the pool you either look stupid, drown or do both like I do.

Swimming's great, but I wouldn't advise it as a more exciting replacement for running:D

  10. In the months to come before summer Im too start sprint training , I have had problems with shin splints in the past and if the problem returns I will have to turn to swimming , I think its a great excercise its just a pain in the arse driving to the swimming pool etc , much easier to step outside the front door and go from there but hey
