how good is swimming for boxing??? I just started and i gotta say its quite exhausting haha.. but how good is it?
its helps muscle endurance an cardiovascular fitness when i swim i like to expand the lungs i began swimming 1 length underwater and 1 above but now i do 50 straight under comeing up 4 air after each length and 50 ontop and i find my breathing and fitnss has improved
I used to run exclusively, but I got a stress fracturre in my back and I'm doing alotta work in the pool to recover. In a sport as injury-prone as boxing, I think it's really important to get a comprehensive cardio schedule because the extra risks associated with purely running are too high. Juan Diaz swims and does other alternative cardio and he's one of the best conditioned atheletes in boxing. I think it's a little extreme to completely foregoe roadwork, but I think running on pavement every day is also asking for trouble with joints and other injuries.
I have always wondered what kind of benefits you could get from swimming, is it good for muscle definition?, i always feel when i come out after a swim all of my muscles right up my back, stomach, chest, arms and legs, have all been really worked. Could this give you the ripped effect that alot of people look for? I would also imagine swimming burns alot of fat?
Muscle definition only comes from a drop in body fat, so yes, swimming can help. It's also a great way to work every part of your body without suffering any impact on your joints.
you could if you practiced forunately for me wen i injured my knee i swam everyday so that was wen i started pushing myself with it
