The Arthur Abraham vs Mahir Oral card on the 27th has an interesting crossroads fight in the same 160 division: The Ring #3 rated (only behind champ KP, #1 AA and #2 Sturm) middleweight, Sebastian Sylvester, who lost a wide decision to Sturm in a very good fight last year and picked up an intercontinental title since then will face Lajuan Simon, the tall American who just lost a competitive decision to Arthur Abraham in an interesting 12 rounder.

Both Sylvester and Simon could win just a few rounds vs. the popular MWs of Germany, but while the highly rated Sebastian underperformed and Strum looked excellent, Abraham struggled and the untested and then unbeaten Lajuan was much tougher than expected.

IMO it's a very interesting fight vs. one of the best current MWs and someone who has to prove with a win that he belongs to that category. Simon's bigtime height advantage makes this even more intriguing. I have no idea whether Showtime will televise this one, but let's just hope it will, because it can be exciting and much more competitive than the main event.

Pretty late announcement though... Fight is just two weeks away, I wonder since when both fighters know they're gonna fight each other?

Sylvester should have a much easier time with Simon than Abraham did. A pure boxer shouldn't have major issues with Simon.

Possible, and Sylvester doesn't have serious weight and stamina issues. On the other hand, Sylvester is even shorter than Abraham, so Simon will have a nice reach advantage, it's not easy to jab through that.

A sad update: Showtime will NOT televise this fight, which is very unfortunate, since Sylvester is rated high and pretty exciting and Simon could crack into The Ring Top10/Top5 at MW.

Tom, do you have any info on ARD Live Streeam?

Sylvester is small but he has LONG arms (for a white guy).

ARD usually doesn't provide live streams when an American fighter or even an American network is involved. Maybe, just maybe they will air Sylvester-Simon. I'm sure that they are not allowed to provide a stream of the main event.

According to Dan Rafael on ESPN.com (in his latest notebook) Showtime won't be televising Sylvester vs. Simon.

Simon himself announced his return to Germany on MySpace a couple of weeks ago.

Last time i saw Sylvester fight was against the limited italian and i wasn't impressed. This should be a tough fight for him but im sure he will get the decision in Germany.

    Don't forget about this fight!

It's a sort of eliminator with the winner getting the #2 spot, obviously behind Giovanni Lorenzo. So if Abraham wins on Saturday and vacates, expect the Sylvester/Simon winner to face Lorenzo for the vacant belt.

Slyvester is a bit overrated here on esb in my opinion.Simon for sure plays in his league.Could really go either way.
Since I will be watching their encounter live I very much hope that they put up a very entertaining and exciting show of boxing:good
