teach some decent boxer basic grappling and takedown defense skills and put him in the ring with sylvia and you have a sure knockout. sylvia's boxing skills are pretty awful, he is slow and doesn't put his weight behind his shots. the boxer wouldn't have any problems because of his lacking ground skills because sylvia prefers to stand up anyway. different story with the other fighters like mir or noguera but sylvia would get owned.
Wlad would KHTFO, and I'm convinced of it. I think he would beat him in an MMA match as well. Give Wlad a good year to develop some skills and Sylvia would be in serious trouble. Nog, Fedor, Couture and others would own Wlad in the Octagon though.
i agree with you, of course a boxer has no chance against fedor in an mma match. but any half decent boxer could become ufc champ by knocking sylvia out who prefers to keep it standing and doesn't throw kicks. it just upset me a little bit watching sylvia get so far with such bad skills.
sylvia would get rocked even if you give him a weight advantage....he'll get dropped by anyone within 20lbs of him thats a well trained and talented fighter and with 4 ounce glove - i dont want to see his face afterwards
Wlad would decimate him. But Sylvia has legitimate power, Arlovski looks to have great fundamental boxing skills and he got KTFO. And AA's chin isn't the best but neither is Wlad's.
Also, Tim would probably beat them in the clinch, possibly trying to take them down in the clinch. Look, I understand Tim isn't a ju jitsu specialist or a great wrestler, but I am sure he has the skills to use those disciplines against a fighter that he knows is a much better striker. Chuck Lidell wouldn't try to outbox Antonio Tarver just because he outstrikes his MMA competition after all...
Chuck lidell is much quicker and more agile then Sylvia. I am just assuming that Tim would be way too slow for the takedown on Wlad, and I said after 1 year of training for Klit....not right now. I think the discrepancy in striking would be so great that it would overwhelm Tim.
Sylvia takes them down, he comes from a smart camp that always instills good takedowns in their fighters. Sylvia takes them down and pounds them out.
Sylvia's ground game sucks terribly, but it's still better than your run-of-the mill boxer's ground game. Like mentioned above, he gets that thing to the mat and wins it. Get a boxer with a decent takedown defense though, and yeah, Sylvia gets laid out. His weak little jab isn't going to keep anyone away, and I think his power is seriously overrated. I sure wouldn't want to take his punch, but he throws with his arm. He could generate twice the power he does now if his technique didn't suck so much.
Sylvia probably has the stiffest legs I've ever seen on anyone, he's worse than Vitali. I could see him employ a Brandon Vera style strategy on a boxer. Wlad blows him out for sure. It would be a Aleksander-Morais style beatdown.
Who cares really ? Tim Sylvia isnt a boxer he just uses that style cause it suits his size and skill set and u know what ? Its worked hes put Ricco Rodriguez and Andrei Arlovski to sleep to win Heavyweight Championships. Thats pretty dam impressive for a awful fighter as hes called.
first of all it's not really china. he has never been ko'd only tko'd. he wasn't unconscious for 3 minutes like maskaev. plus he would never get hit with anything significant by such a poor boxer like sylvia.
When hit he cry. He is obviously a far better boxer than Sylvia and is rated number one in the world but with a 4oz glove he would get ko'd just putting them on.
