Does beating Pudzianowski add anything to Sylvia's resume as a fighter, in your opinion?

Well it didn't take away from it that's for certain. I don't rate Sylvia highly so perhaps I'm the wrong person to answer this. I thought he had wins in a desolate UFC heavyweight division while all the good heavyweights were in Pride.

I think it dispels the myth that any old guy can come in and win. Pudz got ****ed by the poster boy for MMA being a bar fight.

In reality, Tim got caught by an incredibly hard punching boxer before the fight even got started.

Even Couture is talking about how he doesn't feel the need to run for the takedown. Like Tim, he may regret that. Why give a boxer even 1 second of a chance.

Agreed thats all that really happened Sylvia stood directly in front of Mercer for 1 or 2 secounds and bam next thing he knows hes waking up saying "huh". Same thing happens to Couture if he spends ANY time in front of Toney that doesnt involve them being clinched up.

Honestly, I give this version of Slyvia a good chance at beating Lesnar too.

Slyvia obviously has good leverage, has the weight to make him difficult to throw around (the world's strongest man couldn't do it), and when he loses, it's usually to a puncher.

Brock's boxing skills are trash, and I can see this fight ending the same way, with Lesnar getting tired, and then a resilient Slyvia hitting Lesnar with punches.

At the end of the day Brock is as green as they come belt or no belt. Tim will always be in with a good shout because of his veteran experince vs rookies like this. That said i doubt Brock would have much problem getting Tim to that matt as he has legit takedown and wrestling skills.

Brock would definitely take that down and G 'n' P out a victory.

Id always give Sylvia a shot because he does or atleast did have 1 punch KO power in his right hand. I hope Sylvia goes to Strikeforce and hopefully they add some other Heavys like Ricco, Barnett and Monson.

hopefully they do, and don't go under period. there NEEDS to be a top shelf competitor to ufc or the sport is in dire shape.

I honestly think they can provide some competition to the UFC. Now this wont be like in pro wrestling in the 1990s when WCW came up and overtook WWF for 2 years as the preimer wrestling company but I think Strikeforce has became a strong number 2 probablly not as strong as UFC was when they where number 2 to Pride but still a strong company. Obviously the UFC thinks so because they always air recent PPVs on Spike when Strikeforce runs a show. I think with their Champions you can make a case for them being legit World Champions. Gilbert Melendez just dominated a guy ranked by many number 1 in the World in Shinya Aoki, Jake Shields just tooled one of the UFC's top Middleweight contenders, Diaz is the Strikeforce Champion and stopped the Dream Champ Zaromskis proving hes legit, Lawal cant compare to the Rua's or Machida's but I think Overeem/Fedor obviously can to Brock.

Well it did one thing a lot more important for him. It brought a lot of hype and attention back to him. I'm pretty sure he was fading into bolivian before this fight..

    ..damn it, he is back.

    I agree.

I saw Babalu getting upset at the small roster but upon looking at their website, SF have quite a few fighters with whom they could make good match ups and good cards.

Well Babalu should get upset because his divison is one of 2 thin divisons that Strikeforce has 205 and 170. With 155 you got Melendez, Noons, Thomson, Aoki, Beerbohm, Riberio, Evangelista, Gurgel, Ishida and Healy. 185 has Shields, Shamrock, Henderson, Miletich, Cung Le, Scott Smith, Lawler, Villasenor, Jacare, Lindland, Mayhem, Kennedy, Radach, Cyborg, Prangley and Manhoef. Heavyweight has Fedor, Overeem, Arlovski, Rogers, Lashley, Werdum, Bigfoot Silva and Lavar Johnson. Then you go to 205 you got just a few guys Mo, Babalu, Mousasi, Gracie and Fejiao. 170 is just Diaz, Jay Hireon, Tyron Woodley (who isnt impressive IMO)and then its really a struggle to find tough guys from there. Babalu has to fight a Middleweight just to get a big fight next month. I heard Ricco might be dropping to 205 id like to see him do it in Strikeforce and maybe add Filho, Arona among others. Then add Dan Hornbuckle, KARO PARYSIAN PLEASE SIGN and some others.

I think you guys give Pudz and Sylvia too much credit. Pudz came into the fight game very late. Beating him, when he hasn't accomplished anything in MMA means very little. He looked pretty helpless against Sylvia, not because Sylvia is this super great, super skilled, super dangerous fighter.. But because he lacks basic fundamentals. Especially at the standup where he holds a black belt..

Look, I understand in Shotokan you stand straight up with your hand low but in front of you, look for an opening and then explode.. But, when you aren't doing that, or you are exhausted and trying to recover, you need to guard your head when you aren't trying to clinch to catch your energy.

He was good for maybe two or three takedown attempts as well with his very limited gas tank.. I'm sure a lot of that was also nervous energy as well, his gas tank was lower than I expected given he is a lifter known for endurance.

That's all.. I really like Pudz as a strong man, and I like the idea of him coming into MMA, but he came late, he needs a lot more experience, at this point he looked helpless against Tim, I saw a few things he could have done in there against Tim if he was only able to defend himself..

Example, he could have destroyed Tim's legs with kicks if he only knew how to protect his head. Conserved his energy and taken away any chance for Tim to shoot on him with thrashed legs.. I say this because Pudz nearly turned turned Tim around with that first kick he landed.. Tim coming in at 300 lbs, lets face it, shows he didn't do **** for training up to this fight..

I'd bet Pudz has killer kicks and deceptive speed in his legs when he isn't gassed from his Karate.
