A lot taught when the fight was announced that he was a step up from Molina and the French guy but at least they aren't cruiserweights I don't think I'd have szpilka in my top 30. Wilder will destroy him in no time but it won't mean a thing tbh. I wish wilder would fight someone decent, it's going beyond a joke . what I also don't like is the fact that eight IBF up for grabs between martin and glaskov(two pretty limited fighters ) wilder will have a chance to avoid he's mandatory defense and become IMO the weakest unified champion ever. Thing it I think wilder could mix it with anyone and cause big problems for anyone in the division but this is turning into a circus. If he is able to avoid the povetkin fight by fighting for the IBF the sport will become an even bigger joke. I also wondering if the IBF will be as strict with mandatories with wilder
"Szpilka is a very poor opponent" True. And he is by far and away the best opponent that Wilder will have ever fought.
Szpilka is not THAT bad honestly, I wouldn't really have a problem with it if he wasn't preceeded by Molina and Duhaupas lol.
Is there even such a thing as a top 30 in today's era? I can name maybe 10-15 but beyond that one would have to do some digging. I guess the end goal is to make Wilder look as bad as possible by making his opponent sound as bad as possible but Szpilka is no slouch.
not even heard of this kook before this fight. what a mess. burger king promotions must be sorely missing a vendor in times square.
Szpilka is not a terrible opponent for Wilder. However Szpilka following Duhaupas following Molina is p1ss poor for a so called world champion. Atleast 1 of those fights should of been against somebody considered very good. Until he faces and beats somebody of real note in the division he is only a half champ who was gifted the belt in the 1st place cuz just getting to the apron sapped half of Stivernes energy the night Wilder got that belt.
You never heard of Szpilka before? Then you don't follow boxing. The guy has been on the rise for a couple of years. He's been fighting since 2008! http://boxrec.com/boxer/473857
Szpilka is a top25 heavyweight. Yes, Molina/Duhaupas/Szpilka looks more like the progress of a prospect rather than a title reign but still this is a step up. And he's a heavyweight people, give it a rest. If 6'3 230 lbs Szpilka is a cruiser, than what is 6'2 225 lbs Povetkin?
The Worm and Hard Roc are still his best opponents to date sadly. Scott doesn't count since it was a dive
