Wait. As in explaining why he sat on the sidelines for most of 2017 or a NEW injury? As in 11/18 might be off before we even knew what/where/who it was??
I know that this is a thread for King Tug but i can't avoid thinking about Robeisy Ramirez with wins over a few hyped prospects, King Tug, Andrew Selby, Shakur Stevenson and Michael Conlan.
The guy pretty much dissapeared after winning gold in Rio while his former victims are highly touted prospects in the pro ranks.
Tug lost to him 17-14, oh what a victim. Gimme a break, its a 3 round amateur match that was almost a draw.
I'm not sure how Robeisy Ramírez "disappeared", though... He took gold (his second) just last year in Río and plans on going for a third in 2020 in Tokyo. Yes he sat out the AIBA Worlds this year but he also sat out in 2015 and has made no mention of entering the lists since 2013, so nothing strange about that. Not like anybody thinks Kairat Yeraliyev is the number one bantamweight in amateur boxing at the moment; he's just the guy that happened to walk through a weak field. Ramírez is still universally rated #1. None of the best at 54kg reported to Hamburg this summer anyway.
I think he was jaded on them because he feels he was robbed in his debut appearance in 2011, losing in the quarterfinals to Misha Aloyan, the eventual gold medalist - and in 2013, losing again in the quarterfinals to eventual bronze medalist Kairat Yeraliyev. They're both available to view in full if everybody wants to judge for themselves: This content is protected This content is protected
Oh nice! The mysterious 11/18 post was made just a couple of weeks ago so the injury was probably a past thing. So now we know why he spent most of 2017 inactive rather than follow up on the positive reception & televised exposure in the Gemino fight.
No but Gravedigger is the name of a surprisingly dark song on Dave Matthew's surprisingly good solo album.
