January 26th, co-headlining a PBC on Fox card with Keith Thurman vs. José Manuel López @ Barclays. The vacant IBO featherweight title (previously captured by Marrero almost 21 months ago, but allowed to lapse without any defenses) will be at stake. The southpaw from Santo Domingo is the same height as the Olympic silver medalist from Ulan-Batar, with a 2½″ reach advantage. They have a combined professional record of 33-2 (26). A lot of firepower being thrown around - while Nyambayar is the one boasting a 90% kayo rate and Marrero is the only man to have been stopped (or to have lost, period, outside the amateurs). Then again, he is 3-0 with two kayos against undefeated opponents..
Too much too soon for King Tug, I'm really high on him, but he got put down by De La Torre, and was dropped by Escandon, sadly I have a feeling our Mongolian wunderkind might be packing some wicked glass in his mandible, and Marrero is a terribly unorthodox very tough opponent for him. The Matrix will KO him.
Eh, the Harmonito KD was legit, the Escandon was kind of debatable, the jury is still out on whether he can truly take a punch.
Robeisy Ramirez and Nordine Oubaali, both awkward southpaws and of course WORLD CLASS prospects, beat Nyambayar in the amateurs. Let's see what King Thug will do with his first southpaw opponent. Marrero is decent and durable. Will be a good fight.
