Just reminding you that the big football game starts next Wednesday (Japan V Australia). You can check www.theworldgame.com.au for the official line ups a few houirs prior to kick off. Enjoy yourself big fella, and wear your green and golds while watching it. :good
I think so too. They'll be better prepared for the game and will be at home. So you'll be watching it instead of the Mundine/Taylor fight?
Wog ball or the greatest sport in the world, boxing. I will let you guess which event that I will be watching.
Support your local warriors doing battle in Yokohama instead of watching 2 fairy clowns pitter patting each other. :deal
**** the wog ball, I could not care less about soccer. The sad thing is a I know alot about soccer because I lived in England for a couple of years and followed the sport and went to games in london, It was a moment of weekness on my part and I'm sorry for it.
Here's that video you asked for in pm, TCW. Hope you enjoy it ya big fanny. :good [yt]05-oRoCe4BM[/yt]
im sure T.C.W would watch if it was australia and nz as that would combine his 2 favourite things. soccer and nz doing the haka
A 0-0 draw with very few attacking chances. Still a better viewing experience than the mundine fight. Pim went there with a draw in mind, and achieved it. Japan werent able to create as many chances as I thought they would. Our defence went alright, and Schwarzer was only really tested once. Their pace on the wings gave us a bit or trouble though. Anyway, 2 or 3 more points would pretty much get us to the next WC seeing as how the lower teams haven't picked up many points. A win against Uzbekistan at home next will see us there more than likely, if not then, then definitely in the following game against perennial whipping boys Qatar. I'm curious TCW...how did you find the 4-2-3-1 formation Pim used? :think Would you have preffered 2 up front and risk conceding one, or were you happy with the way it all unfolded?
That game was SH****************T! Holman needs to realise that his position not only requires him to play a large area of the field for the ball, but to be able to do something with it when he gets it! He's a good player, but was a terrible night for him. Chipperfield was praised at the end! I suppose, he didn't concede a goal but EVERY single time the Japanese broke down their right, he did NOTHING to stop them. Neill, Moore and even Cahill came back quicker than him to save the goal's multiple times. And what happened to 'passing the ball' in Australian football?? For the entire game Australia didn't get past a 3 in a row pass count and that only happened twice. When the old 'boot the ball down the field to noone' tactic wasn't working, they should have started passing it around a bit and frustrating the Japanese. If the Japanese were striking better the game would have been theirs. We had 1 shot... not just one on goal... but 1 fricken shot, the whole game! You don't win games like that. Hopefully next outing is a little better.
Was a pretty **** house game, but a 0-0 draw was what Pim was hoping for all along. It was pretty boring uneventful stuff, but our defence held well, and considering we only had 1 or 2 days prep, they did quite well. The Japanese hardly had any great chances themselves though. Neill and Moore were solid, and gave them very little to work with. Agreed they tore us apart on the flanks. Chipperfield was playing with niggling injuries though I think, and Culina isn't used to playing RB. Still, it was seen as the hardest game in our qualifying campaign, and we came away from it with a draw. Good result. Holman is crap though. He's a sprinter, not a football player. He gets himself into a good position sometimes, but is terrible at his execution. I really don't know why Pim keeps picking him.
Yeah I didn't know much going into the game - couple of recently injured players and no prep at all - plus 8 hours time difference is a really awkward time. They achieved what they set out to do so good job in that regard. Was just ugly football - was hoping for some excitement. I know... Holman was awful. Surely that's the wakeup call they need to get him out of there. Imagine the Italian or Brazilian mids and forwards toying with him?! I didn't like Cahill upfront either. He serves better as an attacking Mid I would say. When the f*ck is an Australian coach going to realise that Kennedy should be a starting forward in all international matches!?
