What does it even matter that Lewis refused the rematch?

    Career high payday?
Who needs a payday when you got 150 million dollar?

    Legacy?
    He already sealed his legacy.

    He won, get over it.
Vitali had his 2-3 rounds of glory, he missed his chance.

If you ever build a time machine, tell Vitali to pack some extra skin care before the Lewis fight.

    Good night

    Again:

Bottom line is, if Vitali was half as good as his fanboys say he was then he would have finished Lewis before the stoppage and we'd have none of the "TKO6" and "refused rematch" rubbish. That fact that we have this **** still going on a decade later is purely down to Vitali not being good enough to capitolize on the opporunity to beat Lennox when he had the best circumstances possible to achieve it.

It's not a matter of fanboys. It's that tko6 is not a legit win for the rule breaches by Lewis. And even if he'd opened Vit's eye with a clean shot, which he didn't, he was losing the fight 58-56 on all three cards. Vit deserved a rematch far more than Lewis did on the two occasions he was smashed to the canvas. He promised a rematch and then retired in shame.

TKO6 is a legitimate win. It is recognized as a legitimate win by every boxing organization that represented the titles Lewis held at the time and in every subsequent record/history book. The "rule breaches" that you Vitali advocates come up with but have yet to produce any convincing evidence in support of are not recognized by any reputable boxing organization, if they were the fights result would have been changed to a no contest retrospectively.

So its a matter of Vitali having his chance to prove he was an elite fighter but blowing it. It's a matter of him not being good enough to beat Lewis when circumstances were almost entirely in his favour to do so. And its a matter of his fanboys being bitter that Lewis refused to give him the chance to atone for his failure.

And comparing Lewis's rematches with McCall and Rahman to this situation doesn't work. Lewis didn't get an immediate rematch with McCall - he had to work his way back up in the ranking and ended up fighting McCall for a mandatory spot - while he had a rematch clause in his contract with Rahman. Lewis did not get a rematch with either of the basis of how he performed in his first with them.
