Vitali would have knocked Lewis out in the very next round as Lewis was done for. Vitali staggered Lewis, but Lewis could not stagger Vitali. Vitali had the stamina advantage as well, Vitali took that fight on two weeks notice. Lewis' promoter, signaled Lewis" doctor to signal Lewis' referee to stop the fight, Vitali needed only one more round to knock Lewis out cold. Even Max Kellerman said that Lewis' was finished and he was right behind Lewis' corner. Vitali retired Lewis for good. Lewis was offered more money for a rematch than any payday he had even made, but still refused because he knew the truth. Lewis' had a very badly broken nose which can still be seen, yet why didn't they stop the fight and give it to Vitali? Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night. Lewis lied about any rematch because he was afraid.
well its been 10 years since then and there hasnt been a more exciting fight yet at heavyweight. What was the biggest matchup even since then? Wlad-Haye and that was a snoozer.
I'd say u are looking at 2 of the most fierce h2h fighters of all time. What a war the last great, high level fight.
Lewis was the ring general in there klit landed a few nice punches but lewis couldn't miss with the left hook jab and uppercut and was busting klit up he would have knocked klit out around the 8th round.I dunno what fight people are watching you can clearly see vitali was the one clinging on for dear life.

mods: Please do not merge this thread with the TKO in 6, it seems some idiots here can't read the OP.
Laurent Dauthuille was getting the better of Jake LaMotta, John Tate the better of Mike Weaver. The only thing that matters is the end result. Vits put up a great fight against yes, an undertrained Lewis but came up with the short end of the stick. I've said it many times, Klitschko fans should be thanking Lewis. If he had not given Vittles that opportunity Vits would be remembered for quitting against a guy who started his career a couple pounds over super middleweight and who was 8" shorter and 35lbs lighter.
